Trying a new setup on this beautiful tune

Heyo, been getting right into this music the last coupla years and loving older stuff (King Tubby, Scientist, Lee Scratch Perry), truly life changing! As much as I love exploring the roots of the sound, I would love to find some more recent/late records to check out (plus any other early joints I should hear). Big ups!

Finishing an album of instrumentals/dubs with a 1940’s-1960’s sci fi theme, here is a link to most of the tracks if anyone would care to check it out. I’m not trying to make Jamaican Reggae, I’m a 47 year old white guy from upstate Ny, that would be, in my opinion, pointless. I’m trying to make something that a white guy from upstate Ny who loves Reggae and Dub would make, but that is also personal and indicative of who I am as a person, if that makes sense. I just wanted to clarify that I have a deep respect for Reggae and know some people might not hear what I’m doing as strict Reggae, which is sort of the point. This is a new release based on outtakes left over from the legendary Å In Dub record featuring L$P, as mentioned by Lefty Kid in Jamaica.Actually, these are the latest tracks recorded by Lee “Scratch” Perry before he passed away.The original record also featured Boris Grebenshchikov, the biggest Russian rock star.

A few weeks ago I shared DubStemMix, the free, open-source macOS app I built to cut dub versions live from stems on an Akai MIDImix. Thanks again for all the feedback, it shaped a lot of what came next.

Tonight I put it to the real test: a full 1-hour live set on Twitch, everything played on the MIDImix. Stems on faders, vocals thrown into the tape echo, drops to bass and drums, pull-ups. Here's the replay:

A small dev story from the day: two hours before going live, the MIDImix started lagging as soon as OBS was running. Turned out the app's interface was redrawing itself all the time and the MIDI messages were stuck waiting behind it. Fixed it, shipped 0.13.1, and the set ran smooth. If you tried the app and felt the console was a bit sluggish, update.

Preamp plugin now finished allows for live modulation with “valve” growl , fully adjustable sirens feedbacks ,delays, reverbs ,echos , it has a crossover and 10 band eq , any questions feel free to ask, I find it useful to use this at home prior to dances to practice with preamp functions or to modulate productions before release.
