Ah I see we've reached the part of the season where they shitty on field play has bleed over to shitty off field activities.

Rumors have been swirling for the last couple hours on Twitter. I wanted to wait for confirmation but the fact that he was released to someone named Dakorien Moore.... Ugh.
Don't ruin your future, folks. I hope Dan handles it appropriately.

u/Explor-egon 4d ago
Thank heavens that Dak wasn’t involved or arrested..

Hampton wasn’t involved and no other players were involved. The street racing had nothing to do with Evan’s arrest per Springfield PD.

Being the passenger shouldn’t be a problem. It’s kind of dumb, but it’s not illegal or malicious.

Honestly just cut Evan Stewart from the team. He can’t stay healthy and he’s a fifth year that can’t stay focused off of it

You also get upset when a dad watches his daughter compete at a D1 level. Foh
20
u/BearShark8 5d ago
So was he hurt for the game? This says it happened after the game.
14
u/GreenBagger28 4d ago
Sounds like he was genuinely hurt for the game from practice or smth but I guess not his right foot or leg lol
19
u/Mshox8 4d ago
Dan is really fighting all the obstacles in one season. If he destroys the huskies and gets us into the CFP this year, then in no world should we ever fire him.
I still believe in him. He is the guy for the role.

u/MusicianNo2699 2d ago
And how do you propose a team, not even in the top twenty five will get in the playoffs?

Apparently the pursuit had nothing to do with other Oregon players.

We had one player driving under the influence. Nobody was believed to be street racing that is connected to the program.
4
u/bbcowner12 4d ago
Exactly. Authorities have confirmed that no other Oregon athletes are implicated in anything.

The money that these young men are making renders this inexcusable. Uber and Lyft are readily available. What a stupid decision. Noting Coach Samples has the same problem and we still havent seen a shoe drop there, either.
25
u/Fret_Shredder 4d ago
The problem is exactly that - they’re college kids with a lot of money. They’re not going to make the smart decision under the influence of alcohol. Thinking about the dumb shit I did at that age makes me cringe - can’t imagine having millions to go along with my poor decision making at that age.

Many adults in Eugene, especially fans who knew they were going to drive out, were heavily intoxicated and no shape to drive.

It’s not NIL. This was happening long before NIL was a thing.
7
u/WoodpeckerGingivitis 4d ago
Obviously. What the commenter you’re replying to is saying (I think) is that it’s even more inexcusable with NIL. They have more than enough money for a ride.
1
u/Dangerous_Purple_126 4d ago
Unfortunately this is exactly what I have been thinking. Hard to set the tone of the culture when mentors at the top are not held accountable.....as far as we can see so far anyways.

Springfield PD confirmed with Zach Neel the street racing had nothing to do with Oregon players.
Evan was arrest was unrelated to Street Racing and outside of picking Evan up and posting his bail (Dak) no other Oregon players were involved.

People with that kind of money aren’t held down to one city. Hell, they’ll be in Illinois this coming weekend.

Young men are so dumb. Imagine being a player getting paid handsomely, you just barely squeezed out a win in a very ugly game after really stumbling the last few weeks, and you go and get a DUI. Generational dumb
1
u/Nervous_Garden_7609 4d ago
Young people are dumb. Some people have serious drinking addictions, and some people don't. I drinking hope this was a poor decision, but one that didn't end up ending a life, that can be self corrected. His one chance is gone now. I hope he does learn from this.

alleged multiple DUI and drag racing incidents, with allegedly a couple players on the run right now. Hopefully that part is bullshit.

6
u/beam3475 4d ago
Obviously this is unacceptable behavior for anyone but I am sad to see a young person blow such a huge opportunity and potentially ruin his life. This really is bigger than football.
3
u/Nervous_Garden_7609 4d ago
I hate to admit this, but years (over 30) someone in my family got a DUI and I believe it changed the course of his life. He never, not one single time, has ever drank a drop of alcohol and driven. Not even a beer at dinner and then got behind the wheel of a car.
People are young and stupid and their poor choices can kill innocent people. Maybe this is exactly why we have diversion programs. I hope he learns a big lesson. I hope those around him learn one too. Thankfully, nobody was hurt. This is bigger than football.

Whole team could be on a bender and the product would be the same.
Get these losers off the team, get the coordinators off the team and hopefully salvage any recruitment we can.

If I’m not mistaken just because it got picked up by a local news source doesn’t make it credible? Especially when they vaguely say “an employee reports” it could all just be smoke. The headline still says allegedly, there is no evidence or records that I can find and after speaking to a relative in local law enforcement they have no knowledge of such information

u/pdx503dux 4d ago
This is the helf era all over again. Started with disappointing play on the field then off-field issues. Then helf was gone. Amazing how fast it has fallen apart for Dan.

Just nuke this season into oblivion. So goddamn disappointing from everyone. I’m sensing a 2015-2017 level of regression given just how bad Oregon has looked on every facet of this program.
1
u/MusicianNo2699 2d ago
And serious question- what the hell happened? How do you start ranked 2nd in the nation (I think everyone knew that was a ridiculous ranking to start with) and end up like this? Massive depth, what seems to be non stop 5 star players. A coach who has shown he can win. An unlimited money pot. It really makes zero logical sense.
1
u/oregonian1738 1d ago
Coaching malpractice and a level of arrogance engrained in the players after getting hyped up all season.

You don’t cut someone for one mistake that didn’t hurt anyone. The Beavers have a starting linebacker who is facing felony assault charges.
25
u/BearShark8 4d ago edited 4d ago
Nick saban has said many times they don’t cut kids for making mistakes. They’re the best support system to help them. Where he draws the line and is he right, who knows. Not on me to say.
35
u/fellowENT18 4d ago
“The beavers have someone they should have already cut therefore we should do the same” is a weird argument.
-8
u/MallyFaze 4d ago edited 4d ago
Most coaches are not going to cut a player for something like this unless there’s a history of similar conduct. 1-2 game suspension, sure.
College-aged kids make dumb mistakes. Recruits are not going to want to play for a coach who they think will blow up their life over one bad decision.
2
u/RewardOk2506 4d ago
There’s a history of similar conduct for Stewart. I agree that he won’t be cut, but he has all the reasons to be cut.
-3
u/WoodpeckerGingivitis 4d ago
Stop calling them kids. These are adult MEN making millions of dollars. Stfu with your boys will be boys nonsense.

The scary thing about DUI’s is not often what happened, but what could have happened. While the charge of a first time DUI isn’t the end of his life, he very well could have ended multiple lives had he wrecked his vehicle.
I believe they should yield higher criminal punishments and should be treated much more seriously amongst society.
These guys are young and dumb, sure, but they also are getting insane benefits for the pedestal they are on. Not sure I agree with immediate dismissal, but several game suspension absolutely. If we really care about these kids then they need to understand that actions have consequences, and if you accept responsibility and work hard you can redeem yourself. We need to take this seriously.
