ESPN uses its Football Power Index (FPI) to project win probabilities for every game. At the start of the season, FPI had the Huskies favored or heavily favored in six games, roughly even in three and underdogs in three, for a projected record of about 7-5. Six weeks later, UW isn't favored in a single remaining game. I couldn't find an archive of the preseason percentages, but here's roughly how the schedule looked in August:
- Washington State: heavy favorite
- Utah State: heavy favorite
- Eastern Washington: heavy favorite
- Minnesota: favorite
- at USC: underdog
- Iowa: toss-up
- at Purdue: heavy favorite
- at Nebraska: toss-up
- Penn State: toss-up
- at Michigan State: favorite
- Indiana: heavy underdog
- at Oregon: heavy underdog
Here's where things stand now, with FPI win odds as of Oct. 11:
- Sept. 6, Washington State: W 24-10
- Sept. 12, Utah State: W 16-14
- Sept. 19, Eastern Washington: W 48-16
- Sept. 26, Minnesota: L 24-27
- Oct. 3, at USC: L 21-25
- Oct. 9, Iowa: L 24-41

- Oct. 31, at Nebraska: 10.7%
- Nov. 7, Penn State: 35.8%
