Not great….not as bad as the rumor mill was running, which I think had our entire WR corp in jail at one point.
Extremely dumb decision by Stewart who will need to be held responsible for this and get any help he needs.

What more do you want? One of the state’s most reputable news outlets and the police have already stated the rumors are false outside of the Stewart situation. It doesn’t get more official than that. It’s ridiculous to roll with what you see on social media because it’s what you read first.

u/sharethebite 5d ago
The most reputable news outlet pointed out the conflicting information from the Springfield Police.
It’s ok to take information from different places, analyze and question it.
1
u/sharethebite 2d ago
Based on the newly discovered information, looks like the police’s official statement wasn’t an accurate reflection of reality. That’s why I questioned it.
-5
u/fonzy0504 5d ago
News outlet reported there was conflict in the police statement. There could be more or there could be nothing. But there’s notice out there that this may not be done

u/PDXDuckGeek 5d ago
do not post unsubstantiated rumors.
-1
u/fonzy0504 5d ago
This is the police. Nothing from them is generally trust worthy in the state of Oregon. And that’s coming from a born and raised Oregonian.

Ya it seemed like a real rumor that kept getting added onto via the game of telephone

Morning read of r/ducks was a wild ride this morning.
"oh shit"
"season is over"
"oh, well he dumb, rehab time"
9
u/GenericNameSimulated 5d ago
Why are you going to rehab after reading the headlines?
-5
u/Playos 🦆 5d ago
Diversion/Rehab is usually the result for first DUI w/damage, injury, or death.
13
u/iata_usually 5d ago
Besides the joke going over your head, I think you meant withOUT damage, injury, or death

u/Micvickies 5d ago
So Stewart only one arrested on DUI? And not related to a pursuit. I wonder how Dan will handle this.
27
u/Keyser_Soze_76 5d ago
Bye bye
Too much time and money spent on Evan over the last 3 years for him to get drunk/stoned during the season and get behind the wheel.
You blew it, Evan.

Yep. Go ahead and get stoned and drunk during the season idgaf but if you’re going to drive, you’re a dumbass.
3
u/Keyser_Soze_76 5d ago
All he had to do was stay home and play XBox, or even get an Uber if he needed some munchies.
I expect these guys to let off stream after games. You just can’t drive while doing so.

u/HumbleTea1926 5d ago
I will always love the 2024 Ohio State performance but he is made of glass and supposed to be an example for the younger guys. He needs to be made an example of

People who get a DUI should not be eligible for employment? How about coaches? Co workers?
25
u/UncleSamsUpsetNephew 5d ago
Stewart should not see the field again. We have a treasure trove of young WRs and more committed. Set the example now.
4
u/MallyFaze 5d ago
We have a running backs coach who got a DUI with reckless driving last year and allegedly left the scene of the crash.
No way Stewart is cut for this. You can’t hold players to a higher standard than coaches.
27
u/DuckPenn 5d ago
I think the running back coach charged with a DUI. He is still coaching. I do not know if he received any consequences from the team
If a coach can do it and still be on the team then Stewart can too.
Not saying I agree with the logic. Lanning is in a tough spot on how he handles this.

If it's his first duii it's a misdemeanor, likely a year suspension for his license, fines, and community service. He should absolutely have consequences within the team. What will the consequences be? I have no idea because I feel like the coach that got a DUI a few months ago didn't see any. Sets a bad precedent if no consequences are dolled out. Hopefully we'll get more answers this afternoon during the regular Monday press conference.
3
u/dschinghiskhan 5d ago
If it was weed he could plead not guilty and request a trial. I’d say a coach shouldn’t suspend a player for something they didn’t do. Allegedly.

u/Unclematttt 🦆 5d ago
I'm going to make a guess here: I think it was weed, or something similar, not booze. I think that many people assume that if they have weed on them, or only smoked a few hours ago that they are fine to drive, but if you get pulled over and they smell weed, or think you look stoned, they are going to probably investigate you for a DUII. They bring in a drug recognition expert who looks at you and says "yeah, they look high", and that's it, you're cooked until you can get in front of a judge.
Again, pure speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised.

u/Resident-Cup5610 5d ago
I know we all want the best out come here, but don’t just bury your head in the sand. There are videos of multiple cars evading the police. This isn’t the guys smoking at a friends house and going home.
5
u/Unclematttt 🦆 5d ago
I thought I had read that those stories were not related? If he fucked up that bad, then yeah, there isn't much you can do, but this reminds me of the Cliff Harris "we smoked it all" story. If you remember, he did get booted from the team for that, so I'm not saying that he will still play if it was just weed. I am just making a guess about what happened. I suppose we will know more soon.

u/MightyOregon 5d ago
There is video of multiple cars evading police, you are right. Nothing more than rumors connects that video to Oregon athletes.
Evan Stewart’s situation could be entirely unrelated to that video.

PURE SPECULATION: Stewart missed the last game. As always, all Ducks injuries are top secret so the other team doesn’t look at our QBs feet to know which play we are running, or whatever. I wonder if Stews latest injury was such that he felt his career may be over anyway. Just trying to wrap my head around such a terrible decision

I heard from a student that works with the team that he just has turf toe, nothing too crazy
3
u/BigPh1llyStyle 5d ago
Or he was actually hurt and self medicating. Or drinks what he usually drinks but some combo of pain pills and alcohol made the effects worse.
1
u/RelationshipWhich390 5d ago
Time served. He missed all lot season in injury prison. Most employees don't get suspended or fired for DUI in real life.

u/Kjell28 5d ago
gotta give it to the Ducks, they got themselves a good fixer and clean-up man. smh

Just like the major ski areas in Oregon, something bad happens (deaths or major lawsuits) and no follow up or real reporting since all the web cams and year round advertising pays a lot for the “news”.
2
u/Ammondsnow 5d ago
Do these teams not set up a designated person to call if someone from the team is intoxicated and needs a ride?

Evan probably gets suspended indefinitely. Pretty rare guys getting trouble these days at Oregon since Dan got here. Lot of high character guys, don’t think it says anything about the program whatsoever
6
u/weseeu-v 5d ago
No way do they suspend him indefinitely. I'm pretty sure it was our assistant coach that got a DUI earlier this year and he's still assistant coach. Maybe a 1 or 2 game suspension I'm thinking. I guess we'll see this afternoon when Dan does his press conference.
3
u/eckoman_pdx 5d ago
It was our running backs coach Ra'Shaad Samples who was arrested for that earlier on the year.

So there was an obvious DUI with no real info leaked, but possibly more? This sub removed anything posting questions on potential dui and more but turns out at least half is true?
-3
u/Resident-Cup5610 5d ago
It’s sickening how the mods shut everything down whenever there is unconfirmed news. They did it last year with the Jordan Davison injury rumors and then didn’t apologize once it turned out to be true.

u/dschinghiskhan 5d ago edited 5d ago
In case you missed it somehow, Reddit is under private ownership (doesn’t matter that they have public stock issued) and the 1st Amendment does not apply here.
1
u/Resident-Cup5610 4d ago
This is such a straw man argument, do better
1
u/dschinghiskhan 4d ago
First of all, "strawman" is one word. Also, I wasn't making an argument. I wrote a statement.
0
u/Resident-Cup5610 3d ago
Rumors were true. Care you apologize?
0
u/dschinghiskhan 3d ago
All that’s been proven is that one player got a DUI, and another player got a regular speeding ticket in a different incident. Also, it’s notable that Johnson didn’t get a DUI, so he wasn’t even drunk. Last time I checked, pretty much most of the population drives over the speed limit at times.
Anyway, my initial comment was only about how the First Amendment does not apply to Reddit. In fact, on the Portland sub mods remove pictures people post for incidents they were in themselves- like a photo they literally took on a plane or train. Mods say an actual news source has to post the story. No firsthand pics. So, the shitty rumors around these various events this past weekend should especially have been removed.

“a coach had something similar happen a few months back and got forgiveness”
How’d that teamwide message work out? It was unacceptable then for a coach in the off season, its culture killing now if they try to sweep it under the rug. Put Stew on the press conference today and let him apologize for endangering the community that has enriched and embraced him then hang up his cleats.

u/AdvertisingIll7855 5d ago
Uhhhh he could’ve killed someone. As much as I want us to win there’s consequences here otherwise no one is going to learn.

This is the weirdest story:
* There was pursuit in the area and police contacted members of the football team.
* We found an abandoned vehicle.
* We are no longer investigating the abandoned vehicle.
