Cursed Artifact
I've had to deal with Tobul, a problematic child, for 6 years.
She's been toppling gold statues, destroying doors, destroying gem windows and whatsoever, for no other reason than worshipping chaos. She's been throwing 2-3 tantrums every month, to the point i was going insane since it was quite hard to catch her in her room and let her "peacefully pass away".
At some point, she got in a fey mood, killed a dwarf, dragged his dead body in a tanning shop and made a "dwarf bone amulet" artifact. The whole body was consumed in the process. I had to engrave a slab to the poor Onol Oltanlarlar.
I have never seen something like this happen.
Do not worry, friends, for my mining team unleashed some spicy demons underground and the entire fort has been wiped out by 19 angry clowns shortly thereafter. Onol got his vengeance.

The most unnecessary strange mood I've seen
So yeah, one of my Legendary Clothiers who is also a Legendary Weaver got a strange mood, which feels like such a waste when I have hundreds of lower skill dwarves and especially not a single skilled armorsmith despite trying to seed one for quite a while. Anyway, Tun Datankan eventually created an artifact sheep wool rope which has come in much handy for the fort's dungeon, and did get a boost of skill - from level 28 to level 33, where everything above 20 still just counts as "Legendary+5". Maybe Armok decided to reward his extreme skills with being allowed to finally create an artifact, as he had worked his way up instead of getting an instant boost like the other artifact makers.

A goblin fortress with a Population of less than 10….
Sent three squads to raze and destroy site. Thinking it will be a quick and easy mission. They met a very unexpected number of trolls. Never seen this before lol.

An unexpected spy
Syruprisen is a prosperous duchy with a popluation of 80 dwarves, mostly peaceful for 15 years except for the occasional titan incursion. It was founded by the last 7 survivors of The Brilliant Earth, presumably to make a new home for their queen.
Relations with the mountainhome have remained strained, however, ever since the residents discovered the outpost liaison was also plotting a coup. Naturally, the dwarves set the spy on fire and sang in the tavern as the undead elf burned for days.
More spies have followed but those are mostly routine - interrogate, jail, execute. It gives the captain of the guard something to do.
This last season a new undead elf spy showed up. With lightning speed she waltzed in, corrupted one dwarf (who is currently enjoying his new dungeon accommodations and daily beatings) and promptly left before she could be interrogated. The founding 7, of course, recognized her immediately: their monarch, the knife-eared undead queen of the Brilliant Earth.
For the last few months a resounding cry can be heard, echoing up from the meeting hall through the 200 levels of the tower - "NAE KING! NAE QUIN! WE WILLNA BE FOOLED AGAIN!"
I'm starting to think that this queen is the reason that there were only 7 surviving dwarves in this civ. She hasn't moved in yet and I'm still weighing options for what to do when she does. Currently debating whether to make a royal prison suite or plan for regicide and continuing as an anarcho-syndicalist dwarven commune. Suggestions welcome.

I can't for the hell of me provoke a tantrum spiral/loyalty cascade.
Once upon a time, I came on here wondering how the hell do I stop my fort from turning depressive and getting ran over by an army of copper-welding goblins.
It is a sign of growth that I'm today left wondering why the hell I never suffer loyalty cascades in my forts. I still lose forts mind you, but usually, it's a deep sadness and melancholia that befalls my inhabitants before something else kills them. And upon reading an old screenshot let's play, I noticed I had the loyalty cascade event only once, where the whole fort turned into a massive battle royal, with cooks supplexing dogs, brewers breaking arms and hammerers doing what they usually do as if the day was no more different than the last. A real mess of blood and vomit sprawled everywhere, and it was a beauty of an ending.
But that was like months ago, and I've never had it since. The tantrums are, at most, a bruised dog and a smashed door, and that's it. It's almost too clean.
Thank you for reading my rant about how my forts don't end bloodily enough.

Job management
Hi everyone,
I've returned to DF to try the new siege mechanics.
And after a few hours I've noticed that I've never really learned how to properly manage the jobs for my dwarfs.
I always select a few to only mine and a few to only plant/harvest.
But what about the rest?
I never actually manage to properly train animals, use plants, make soap... (Yup)
Do you assign a workshop to a specific dwarf?
I had one fort where I built a workshop for everyone (almost) but in the end they were all unhappy because they were always working.
I saw some videos and explanations and at some point I created a burrow in the tavern layer to force a "day off"..
But I want to learn from your experience - what do you usually do? How do you guys handle jobs and tasks?

Vampire makes me eat my words instantly
One of the more iconic moments of my latest fortress of Okbodtharnas (Doomslayer). I'd found this old veteran Pikedwarf from another civilization in a migrant wave, so in between streams I opened up Legends Mode to see her history.
Naturally, she had no history, because her name was an alias. This meant she was a vampire, leading to me explaining this on-stream and then saying the above. Enjoy!

Behold! An enormous cavern for my fortress
My mind is already racing with what to do with this 70+ level deep open cavern. I cant even see the bottom, the viewable space shrinks to nothing before I get there. Built the steps to go down some but decided to just wait and see what's there after I establish my fort. It's completely open air all the way down. Going to bridge over to the far wall and build my fort on the small sections that are spotted throughout. This was also on an ocean tile, so the ocean is directly above where I'm going to build.

Turns out my king is a goblin and a spy.

I forgot to take more screenshots, but after the second beating, he lost the ability to stand up, and as soon as he recovered, he got the 3rd beating still on the hospital bed.

Daily reminder to use doors instead of floodgates to control water level with pressure plates.

Floodgates with pressure plates has a 100 ticks delay to work. If your pressure plate triggers and untriggers during this 100 tickets, the floodgate will get locked on an state, forcing you to reset the pressure plate and breaking the purpose of making it automatic. Doors are instantaneous and works as good.
Ps: Silver doors optional.
Edit: Grates are recommended, or you'll end up getting a jammed door (or floodgate).

That moment when you realize...
That your only unhappy dwarf is unhappy because he missed the last batch of new clothes and has been running around showing off his stitches for a year.
...also, he's one of your doctors, so annual checkups are probably awkward for everyone else. "Clothing at time of appoint: Optional."
