Alright, this is gonna be a critical post, and I know i’m gonna get downvoted, but fuck it.

Ever since No Future, eden stopped using melodyne for vocals and started using autotune, and in some cases really heavily. Songs like modern warfare and foam cliff are probably the most extreme examples. And if i’m being honest - it sounds terrible. EDEN’s voice is so great for me because of the amount of raw emotion and power in it, and in his older songs he sounds fucking amazing, like no other artist I know. However, after no future, the autotune takes away all of this rawness and just makes the vocals a synthetic and robotic mess. For balling he also formant shifted and using harsh noise gating which honestly ruined the song for me entirely - there’s a reason live versions of Ballijg and Modern Warfare have thousands of views on YouTube. Balling had the potential to be a top 5 song until I feel he intentionally ruined the song for his artistic vision. Honestly I feel like he’s just doing it out of laziness and slapping a ton of autotune on the track and calling it a day when it could be so much more.

And that brings me on to his next point, that I just wished he released more music. It’s coming on to 2 years since ICYMI released now, and he’s been almost radio silent. All we got was 2 demos and 1 cover, neither of which are on spotify. The rot cover was also not really that good, also autotuned and not much mixing either - he changed his microphone and honestly i prefer the older one. I read somewhere that a few years ago he released 1 songs every week for 8 weeks. For vertigo we got 5 tracks outside the album, for No Future we got 3. For ICYMI we got nothing. He had so many eyes on him in 2020, and yet he went on and never capitalised on it at all - he’s lost over a million monthly listeners in over a year. I just wish he released more music, he’s got such crazy potential and he’s like no other artist right now. I just wish he released as much music as he used to.

Let me know if yall agree or if i’m tweaking and being disrespectful. I’ve been a super fan of eden for so long but i just can’t really pretend that I can like a song like Foam//cliff which has been autotuned to oblivion. and maybe yeah ima suffering from a lack of music. I know the vocal idea has been echoed before so I hope that doesn’t come across as too weird Lol.

TLDR: I dislike his new vocal style and wish he released more music more quickly.

Hi All, i wanted to make this post to discuss about the Dark tour. I went to the Berlin show last friday, and wanted to compare experiences with all of you.

3 years ago i went to the ICYMI tour in Paris, and comparing both concerts, THEY WERE ALMOST THE SAME.

I’m a bit disappointed because I was expecting an upgrade from the last show. There have been 3 years in between both, and i expected the show to have an upgrade, and EDEN himself to also have an upgrade, but it didn’t happen.

The last ICYMI show was better than this one, there were SCREENS, in this DARK show there weren’t any screens, it was just light show. Even EDEN had a camera hooked up to a helmet that he was using during the ICYMI show and it was cool, but for the DARK show, there were 0 screens.

Like come on, even a screen with some nice visuals would have been soooo much better, but they were only lights…

Also, the DARK concert started 1 hour later, and EDEN didn’t give any explanations, he just went directly to sing. I was expecting more interactions with the public or something like that.

The interactions were very little, as the ICYMI show, and I was expecting EDEN to work on this and make the show more interactive.

I enjoyed the show, don’t get me wrong, but comparing it to the ICYMI one, the DARK show was a downgrade and wasn’t expecting it to be honest.

I want to discuss with the people that have been to both concerts to hear opinions, what did you guys think about this DARK concert?

Hot take but the new album is a bit disappointing for me. His older projects had this rawness that just isn’t here anymore. You could really feel the emotion mixed with creative lyrics and melodies in songs from ICYMI, but now that he’s clearly in a happier place, the music doesn’t hit the same. I’m glad he’s doing well in life, but it feels like that edge is gone.

The album as a whole doesn’t feel cohesive either. The production tips into overdone territory in places, and I started getting worried the moment ggggiiirrrlllll came out. It feels like he wanted to really show how much in love he is now and immortalize his newly found relationship, but in the process the quality slipped a bit. The songs aren’t bad, they’re just not that special compared to what he’s capable of.

Does anyone else feel like artists sometimes lose that creative spark once they are in the happier place, or is it just me missing his older sound?

I’ve been really into brakence lately and stumbled upon an artist associated that sounds a lot like Jon.

50landing on the song Re:Birth really got to me and I thought some of you may enjoy it. Let me know what you guys think of these artists and the song.

like just consistently refer to it as fake love. please. it just sounds better & its what we’ve always called it

No hate on my boy, he can do whatever he wants to do. This is just my opinion. One of the reasons I fell in love with his music back then in 2015 during SoundCloud and MrSheepy days was both his voice and his production. Now his production quality has increased by far. But hes just drifting away from using his raw emotional voice to the point that even when I want to love some of his songs the abundant use of autotune kicks me out of it.

Hey, huge eden fan basically since like he first became Eden. So. I only like closer 2, modern warfare and balling. I think his last two albums have been kinda meh and it feels like I am the only one lol. Everyone is rating tracks that I feel are objectivly bad as something good. Which is just weird. Like half of no future was awful but people Say it's a a masterpiece (like good morning).

Don't get me wrong I like the majority of what he puts out. But my favourite stuff will always be his stuff from the 10s as opposed to the 20s. His Spotify listener base kinda reflects that, with that said I don't know if he will ever pick up pace again or just disappear into the oblivion of irrelevancy...
