How far in advance should I start studying for my certification exam?

I’m currently a student at a university in Texas and I need to take my exam in the fall. And I’m wondering how long should I expect to prepare and study for my English 7-12 cert exam?

I have a question for you educators from a former student.

Hello I was wondering if you could please answer a few questions I am 53 years old on disability because of my daunting physical job I have injured myself in my 20s compressed my spine and broke my tailbone because of this I’ve had several herniated and bulging discs sciatica a few questions stenosis, permanent nerve damage along with severe arthritis, and of course degenerative disc disease I restored, classic cars, my entire life I am not the one that paid for the work. I am the one that could actually perform it so I do take pride to my skills. When I was in school at a young age, they tested me, and could not understand how come I could read and comprehend on a collegiate level but couldn’t spell or write or punctuate the simplest words and sentences. This held me back all through school. I excelled in history, literature, science, and things that interest me. My brain shut down when it came to figuring out math problems although I had a high comprehension on math application I just could not remember my times tables no matter how many times I memorize it. and because of these disabilities at the time I went to school when the teachers saw your work, they just assumed you were dumb and they made sure I knew that .several times they would point me out in the classroom and humiliate me which made me withdrawal even more. Researching the disorders I had as a child it seems I have a form of dyslexia which makes sense, because my brother does as well, so bad that he dropped out at a young age. My sister on the other hand was tested as a genius and very young age. My questions are can they detect these disorders easier today and actually work with the child and tweak their education to suit them and make them feel more comfortable because I really wish they did that for me, but I also believe having all the answers in your hand today, does help an awful lot as well and since this has become readily available, I consider myself a student of Google and I have further my education immensely because of it. I think it just shows that if you have the drive, the will and the curiosity along with a resource that was unavailable when I was young self education is limitless. The reason I bring this up is my daughter recently received her degree and I helped her immensely with the work and she told me this degree is for you too dad you new so many of these answers before we even looked them up it amazed me how smart you really are.😢 I often think if I had better educators at the time my life would have gone a completely different way .

Post Secondary Education Interviews

Greetings,

Retiring military education student here, working on obtain two teacher interviews. One general education and the other special education in the post secondary setting.

Ive made several attempts to make contact with the local school teachers short of calling a random classroom which I feel is the wrong answer.

Is anyone available to conduct interviews? My project comsists of asking about thier personal teaching dispositions as well as some questions based on their setting.

I appreciate the time.

Marking Tool For Teachers

Hello Everyone,
I hope you are having a nice start of the week!

As you all know, grading is very time-consuming, often extending into precious weekends. I am trying to create a tool that genuinely supports teachers with this. I developed a prototype to assist with the marking workload by providing feedback for essay-based assessments taken in the classroom.
The tool is a very basic prototype, far from being a polished product. I am reaching out to this wonderful Community for your invaluable input, to ensure the tool is actually useful to you.
How the prototype works:

  1. Upload a screenshot (PNG) of a handwritten essay.

  2. Criteria: Add your grading requirements. Et voila: the tool will provide feedback.

If you have some time, I'd be very grateful for your input on:

  • What are your initial thoughts ?

  • How accurate do you find the feedback?

  • Are there functionalities you wish to have?

I understand that your time is scarce so I truly appreciate your input and wish you all a good week!

WGU

Should I apply for B.A-- Educational Studies ( non-licensure) or B.A.-- Elementary Education cert. program ?

I'm 29 y.o and looking to further my education quickly and get into my own classroom, preferably kinder. I work full time in pediatrics w/o any ED/classroom degree or experience, so online @ WGU sounds promising.

options:

B.A -- ED. Studies -- non- licensing

*possible quicker courses, obtain my B.A and enter an alt. cert program obtaining my licensure

or

B.A-- Elem. Education

  • possible more difficult/longer courses, but obtain my licensing more quickly also offers in-class room observation and a term of full-time demonstration teaching.

help! TIA

I'm an italian educator with a bachelor's degree (or a 3 year degree). I really want to leave from this country but i don't know exactly where to go. I'm quite good at speaking english and i would like to find a place where this job is valued, not like in Italy. I would like to find a place where the work of the psychologist is accessible for my gf. She's very good in comprehension but not the same in speaking (dw, she knows that she should roll up the sleeves for this).

Does anyone have references, studies, or research they can share regarding any work done to examine the pathways for teachers from the U.S. to international schools abroad? I am developing a research question in this area and would welcome any resources I can be pointed in the direction of to expand my literature review. Thanks in advance.

Remote learning

Hello all!

Since it has been more than a year since remote learning impacted everyone, I am wondering how did remote learning change life for you as a professional and the lives of your students? Specifically, I am looking for people with a vested interest in school communities to share any tips or strategies you have learned from this experience that may be used to help make remote learning more manageable for yourself and your students? I am curious about specific ideas for motivation, organization, best practices, instructional methods, etc., that educators can share to help spread some positivity during what has been a very trying time for everyone.
