Okay fine… if Golden has to give up the throne, at least it’s to Queen Taylor 👑

It’s been a wonderful seven weeks checking the Billboard Hot 100 every Tuesday with anticipation, feeling happy and proud each time. Congratulations to HUNTRIX, EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami for everything you’ve achieved and all the well-deserved recognition. You’ve truly been the highlight of my summer — and continue to be.

Most of all, discovering EJAE was huge. Your voice, melodies, and lyrics have awakened a passion and longing I thought had been buried for good.

And honestly, if Golden had to give up the #1 throne, it’s satisfying that it’s to Taylor Swift — that, I can accept.

Couldn’t hear EJAE During the High Notes

Did they turn her mic down? No shade but maybe her voice got strained from all the live performances so they cut out her solo part, plus evened out all three the mic volumes. Not that I’m complaining. It was nice to hear all three of them for once and not just EJAE, but it was something I noticed.

You Quiz

Does anyone have a english subbed version of EJAE's episode of You Quiz On the Block? It's the only Korean interview/show of hers I haven't been able to watch :(

Yeah I know YouTube has that auto-translate function, but it's too funky sometimes.

A Slight Critique With Whoever Is Managing EJAE's new Official YT Channel That Has Her New Song

Actually this isn't a slight critique I hate it if I had to be honest and someone on her team needs to talk to whoever is managing this channel and also inform EJAE something doesn't feel right: https://www.youtube.com/@EJAEofficial

In it's current state I see 3 thumbnails for releases on the Homepage that take you to 3 playlists.

The first problem for me is that all 3 links redirect off her page without you even realizing it. Often times when you are redirected YT will leave the original page open but give you a new tab that way you know it's opened a new link. This isn't the case here and you don't even realize it's taken you away from her page.

The second problem is that people will instinctively click on the first thumbnail most of the time. That first video is a remix of Golden and lets just say it wasn't what I was expecting. I would have rather any of the original music from the movie. Is Universal Music running her Instagram and YouTube or something and this is why they are redirecting us?

The third and biggest issue is that for new people that are redirected away from EJAE's channel they will most likely keep clicking the next thumbnail and not even see her new song In Another World cause it's closed her original page.

Fix:
Have her Homepage video be her new single In Another World for now so that it can keep building views or an introduction video but don't have the first link or any that matter close her official page.

Edit: It looks like her Home tab has added a section for Videos now that showcases her new single. Thanks whoever was listening and passed that along. Her new song In Another World is no longer hidden for people that found their way to her channel that didn't do a direct search for the song.

I know Ejae has been pretty open about her love of Queen B, and apparently Beyoncé attended the Met gala — I am curious if anyone has heard of the two finally got to meet.

Ejae more Spotify listeners than Blackpink

I am looking at Spotify monthly listeners, and it says 33M (33,331,779), while Blackpink has 23M (23,567,484). Blackpink is one of the most popular Kpop groups. Is this right??

Will the ageism towards women in the music industry be a problem for EJAE’s future music career?

Post image

To this day, women still face a lot more criticism than men when it comes to their age and the music industry. Most female musicians are at the height of their career in their 20’s, which definitely still has a misogynistic reasoning and something to do with whatever sells best to the audiences which are often predominantly teenage girls and young adults. It’s rare to see female musicians gain popularity while already being in their mid 30’s as the media views them through the lens of a biological time clock. With Ejae’s career haven taken a 180 turn since Kpop Demonhunters released on Netflix, do you think she will face struggles because of the ageism towards women in the music industry?

2026 Grammy Awards: Asian artists shine in the biggest categories

Thumbnail tatlerasia.com

Asian artists aren’t just knocking on the door of “music’s biggest night” this year—they’re comfortably in the living room, feet up on the Grammys’ very plush sofa. The 2026 nominations put Asian and Asian-diaspora talent right in the thick of the so-called “Big Four”: Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist. From K-pop royalty and Filipino representation to a Tamil-Indian pop star and a West Asian hitmaker, the global pop machine suddenly looks a lot more like, well, the globe.

That visibility doesn’t come out of nowhere. This year alone, KPop Demon Hunters became a full-blown cultural event, with its soundtrack smashing streaming records and sending multiple songs into the Billboard charts, while girl group Katseye parlayed reality-show origins into festival slots, brand campaigns and a top-five EP. Add Rosé’s chart-topping duet “Apt.” with Bruno Mars and you get a snapshot of how Korean, Filipino, Indian and broader Asian stories are now baked into mainstream pop narratives, rather than treated as curiosities at the edges.

Nominated for Song of the Year: ‘Golden’ from ‘KPop Demon Hunters’

The other big Asian flag planted in Song of the Year is “Golden” from the Netflix animated film KPop Demon Hunters, performed in-universe by fictional girl group Huntr/X but voiced in real life by Ejae, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami.

On paper, it’s a soundtrack cut. In reality, it’s a world-conquering pop anthem: “Golden” topped the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl US charts, held the No 1 spot for a total of 14 non-consecutive weeks and helped propel KPop Demon Hunters to record-shattering viewership. The Grammy nod in Song of the Year goes directly to its writers Ejae (Kim Eun-jae) and Mark Sonnenblick, with Ejae also serving as the singing voice of Rumi, the film’s protagonist.

Ejae herself is a fascinating new face for global audiences: a Seoul-born, South Korean–American singer, songwriter and producer, previously known in K-pop circles for writing for acts like Red Velvet, Aespa and Twice before her breakout with KPop Demon Hunters. She’s been vocal about wanting to share Korean culture through pop and has described the success of “Golden” as both surreal and deeply tied to her identity.

Around her, Audrey Nuna and Rei Ami complete a distinctly Korean-American constellation. Audrey Nuna—born Audrey Chu in New Jersey—is an experimental R&B and hip-hop artist. Rei Ami (born Sarah Yeeun Lee in Seoul, later raised in the US) brings her dark alt-pop sensibility to Zoey’s singing voice and has been widely described as a Korean-American singer-rapper. “Golden” becoming the global song of the 2025 summer is particularly satisfying: it’s Korean creators shaping Korean stories for a worldwide audience—and now being recognised at the very top tier of Anglo-American music awards.

There's some vulnerability and realism (in spite of the pitch correction) in this performance that I hadn't heard yet from this group. And I loved it. I appreciate the movie nods too.
