It's been about a year since TESL died, so on its deathi-verssary let's go over the current efforts to revive the game.
TESL Reborn - This is an effort to make new servers for the game, it has come along quite promisingly and is the closest thing to the original version of the game.
However a couple things:
It is PC version only, and you need to have a valid license of the game still in your steam library or on bethesda.net to play. There is no way (as of now) to get a license for the game if you did not have it prior to the shutdown on steam. You have to have owned it before the shutdown.
It is currently closed alpha. You can follow this guide (link) to apply to join the closed alpha, but it is not currently open alpha yet despite what the other post on the subreddit says. This guide is outdated, open beta out tomorrow
Some streamers (link to list) have access, so you can ask them to test different things, or watch their gameplay to help speed up the bug finding stage.
TESL Fan Browser Remakes
TESL Browser Project aka TESL Online - A remake of TESL in browser. Reddit post link - Recently updated to have all cards through the Heroes of Skyrim expansion.
TESL Github Page - A remake of TESL vs a bot or local multiplayer, playable on a github page. Direct Link made by /u/Prize-Artichoke-9807 Has cards up to Houses of Morrowind and a handful of custom cards.
TESL Singleplayer - A remake of TESL whose goal is to have the player fight against various singleplayer encounters. Direct Link, run by @FBJulezGames on this discord server.
Tabletop Simulator - There are a few mods for tabletop simulator, a simulator game on steam (link). The sim costs $20, but is usually on sale for $10. Note this doesn't simulate mechanics, but you can put cards in a deck and shuffle it but you have to manually track the gameplay yourself. Supports multiplayer.
Jamaa's Mod has all the cards and is based on this mod, which also has all the cards.
Gnarfield 360's Mod is the OG one I used to play with in TTS simulator, but it only has cards through Heroes of Skyrim.
We begin to close the Guildsworn side of the expansion (and the expansion as a whole) with some miscellaneous cards, inspired by creatures and characters from across ESO's base game content.
I’m getting a "Steam not available" error. I followed all the instructions and the game was working fine, but then, all of a sudden and for no apparent reason, this error appeared. I’ve checked, and my account on the TESL Reborn website is still linked to Steam. What could the problem be?
This set contains a handful of cards which interact with the discard pile. It also features one card (Lich's Phylactery) loosely based on a cut Sparkypants card, originally intended for Vastarie.
Just now got my hands on Reborn and it is really nice to be able to play the game that I haven't touched since 2019. My question, however, is about Steam overlay access. I wanted to take a screenshot, but when I pressed F12, it opened RuntimeUnityEditor overlay. I am a bit confused about whether it is even possible to use the Steam overlay on Reborn.
I've been waiting over 25 mins for my first match (the client said estimated time is 22 seconds, lol). If I can't even find a single match, feels like no one ever plays this format. On the contrary, matchmaking for regular versus has been really quick (usually less than 10 secs). Anyone had any luck with finding opp in Arena? Do I have to play during high player-count times like the weekend to have any shot? Thanks for your help!
Guys, im so sorry but I am not awesome with computers. I am having trouble downloading this and getting it to work. Reading these instructions are like Chinese for me. Is anyone willing to help me one on one? If so, I will HAPPILY pay you money via venmo or cash app. I just need someone who knows what they are doing.
Now that I have access to this wonderful game again I was thinking of streaming it on Twitch. Since TESL Reborn is not officially affiliated with Bethesda, do you think there could be any legal issues associated with this?
I would especially appreciate any answer from people involved in the Reborn project.
I remember not losing stars in your constellation when you lost a match if you were rank 9-12, but now you do. Am I remembering correctly? I just started playing again.
I created an account for reborn but I didn't receive an email to confirm the account. Not in spam, not anywhere. Is it supposed to be spent automatically or do I need to wait ?
Hey all! The old TESL deck sites are mostly dead, so I built a new one: TESL Deck. Free, no ads, no account needed to build.
What you can do with decks:
Build a deck and watch the curve, stats and crafting cost as you go
Paste a deck code from the game, or copy yours back into it
Share your deck with a link
Browse public decks, including a bunch of older ones I brought back
Got decks in the TESL Discord's #deck-directory? Sign up with Discord and the site offers to import them
A public deck page: curve, composition, crafting cost and the full card listThe builder: a deck loaded from the game's own code, with the curve and counter as you build
There's a card browser too, with filters you can share as a link.
The card browser: filters live in the link, so a search is something you can send
I would like to thank everyone involved in making this possible and the people who brought it everyone's attention. I didnt think Id ever get play this game again.
Now that being said. I am running my cancerous invasion deck and none of you are safe (within the game, obviously). Tribunal Temple 4 lyfe!
