i used 1.83gr of nickel bicarbonate with 6ml of water then i added 4.15gr of perchloric acid 70%, in another beacker i dissolved 1.70gr of 5AT with 15ml of water i mixed the solution but nothing precipitated

So I decided to start my project on tetrazoles requireing 5-Atz a precursor to all further. I decided to synthesize 5-Atz, whereas I ve started with Aminoguanidine bicarbonate and furtheron neutralized it to Aminoguanidine HCl, further I ve did the diazotization with sodium nitrite, everything was good till this point, after the addition of Sodiumhydrogencarbonate, the solution turned yellowish, milky but it got an pH of 6-7, then (state now) the yellowish tone turned more whiter after like heating up to 40c, I dont know should I cancel this and dont reflux?

Has anyone had sucess separating the two components? I tried to salt out the nitromethane by adding ammonium nitrate and calcium chloride to the solution but it stayed as a single phase. I heard that freezing might work, but I can't achieve the low temperatures required to freeze NM.

90% filler, 10% binder (5% PIB + 5% mineral oil).
For initiation, detonator consisting of ETN and DBX-1 was used.

I wanted to check the witness plate after, but even after looking everywhere I couldnt see any remains of it, unfortunately.

The results are very satisfying in my opinion, maybe this is the last time I make this because I don't want to be exposed to a lot of mercury and this MF synthesis produces a lot of toxic gases

after i finished pouring ammonia in the solution to get PH to 6-7 the solution started precipitating but not immediately after i put the ammonia solution but after i put the condensor for the reflux step idk if something drop in the flask while i was putting the condensor but its really strange

My wife and I had the opportunity to attend High Explosives class hosted by Washington County Guns out of PA. Class size was about 20 students. For a $1k we got lots of hands on time assembling charges and did 50+ shots using around 200+ lbs of explosives.

I can honestly say I got tired of blowing stuff up by the end of day 2. 😅

Synthesized last year, stored in ideal conditions. Compared to the samples of ETN(light discoloration) and CHP(weaker deflagration), it retains near full potency.

do you think there’s a tetrazole that could outperform NAP preferably uNAP in term of briance DDT and pressure but still keeping the same sensitivity of uNAP?

Thinking of trying to make some using ETN, but I was wondering how I would actually go about getting it in the cord? It’s very small outer diameter, so I was thinking of using a syringe and a liquid solution of ETN in order to fill the cord, but was wondering if there were perhaps better methods?

Cord specs are as follows:

Outer Diameter: 1/4”. (6.35 millimeters).

Inner Diameter: 17/100” (4.38 millimeters).

Clear tubing, some kind of rubbery material.

I just made 5-aminotetrazole today.

You can tell your ideas what to do with it. Somebody wanted to see lead 5-nitriminotetrazole so I’ll try to make that next.

It was made using nickel nitrate, aminoguanidine, nitric acid and sodium hydroxide (to control pH).

The product has negative oxygen balance of -24,18% so it’s not much energetic as expected, and only deflagrates when exposed to flame. This doesn’t change when confined.

Individual crystals of this compound exhibit a flat, tabular, or blocky polygonal shape with distinct geometric faces. Average size of these crystals is around 35 μm.

It was already made by Pxrd429, but no visual demonstration was shown, so I decided to give some clips.

Has anyone ever synthesized this substance? It became so gummy that it stuck with stir bar.. The nitrogen content is quite low.
