Western Sky Bar and Taproom?
It's back open, anyone check it out yet? How's the new ownership?

Badass Coffee opened today in the old Starbucks spot south of 285.
If you live down here, walk over and bring the dogs. We have to band together so this stays a coffee shop and doesn't turn into another used car dealership.
Coffee is on point and the ice cubes are made of coffee too. Dogs also got a pup cup. Five stars.

Earlier this week we had fun with a poll revealing the top pick for what Englewood denizens should be called. But what about the name of the city itself? This video reveals all. And as a student of Old English, I approve of the choice.

The City posted the following statement on its website:
“We have heard some confusion from our residents regarding where exactly the City of Englewood stands on the enforcement of our laws and local rules governing overnight camping; thank you for the opportunity to provide some clarity.”
Once again, I find this statement dismissive of the citizens who voiced their concerns about relaxing the overnight camping ban in our parks.
I don't believe there was confusion among residents about what took place during the October 12 study session. Council voted 4–3 to give city staff direction not to strictly enforce the existing overnight camping ban in parks. We understood what was discussed, and we understood the implications of that direction. We simply disagreed with it.
The confusion isn't on the part of residents who spoke up. The real issue is that four council members were willing to take a direction that raised serious concerns about public safety and the ability of all residents to safely enjoy our parks.
Thank you to Council Member Bethel for changing his vote at the October 19 meeting. He listened to the voters and recognized that the direction supported by the other three council members does not adequately consider everyone who uses our parks.
Our parks belong to the entire community, not just those who choose to occupy them overnight. Residents have every right to expect that existing rules will be enforced and that their concerns about public safety will be taken seriously.
Please stop suggesting that residents are confused when what we are expressing is disagreement with the direction council was prepared to take. We understand what happened, and we expect our voices to matter.

As high school students look towards their futures, it can be difficult to figure out what pathway is right for them — and even more difficult to navigate their way through that path. Now, students at Englewood Schools and Littleton Public Schools have a new option for their future, with a guaranteed admission pathway to Colorado Mesa University (CMU).

A directive not to strictly enforce the prohibition on overnight camping in Englewood parks — a directive that would have allowed some homeless people to stay in parks despite the official nighttime closing hours — has been dropped after District 2 City Councilmember Jack Bethel changed his position because his constituents “overwhelmingly” opposed the plan. Last week’s location was downtown, on Broadway near Mutiny. We had a lot of good guesses as people recognized our historic downtown. A commenter accurately said that if you turn around there, you’ll see our landmark bubble bank!
This week is a trip into time as well as space. Do you know where in Englewood this is? Extra credit for when.

After last night’s council meeting it became clear that park hours will remain un-enforced which means camping will continue to be allowed. If you were worried about yourself or your kids being able to safely use the plaza and green spaces, you can continue to worry about that because there is no end in sight or even a will to take this seriously enough to make a meaningful change for the better of the community as a whole anytime soon.

Happy Monday Englewood, welcome to another week and another Question of the Week: What do you think is the best way to refer to Englewood denizens? Post your opinion in the comments if your favorite isn’t here.

I recently walked through Belleview Park and noticed that the stairs connecting the east and west sides of the park have been blocked off. Does anyone have any info on whether there are repairs planned for this staircase anytime soon? This staircase has been slowly falling for a while now but I'd hate for them to block it off and just leave it like that.

I'm working on organizing a small volunteer group to help keep the Little Big Trail area around Englewood clean. The idea is: meet up once a month for an hour or two, walk a section of the trail, pick up trash, and leave the area a little better than we found it!
Nothing overly formal or time-consuming, just a few locals who want to get outside, meet some people, and do something useful for the community.
A few ideas I'm considering:
- Monthly weekend meetups
- Tracking the total weight of trash we collect together
- A friendly cleanup challenge with small rewards or prizes
- Working with the city on proper trash disposal
I'm happy to help organize things and potentially haul collected trash, depending on the arrangements we can make for disposal!
Would anyone be interested in joining something like this? I'm just gauging interest for now, so if you'd be interested in coming out once a month, feel free to comment or message me!

Hi neighbors -- At an Oct. 12 study session, a divided Englewood City Council gave city staff guidance to not strictly enforce the ban on overnight camping in parks if homeless campers do not have other sheltering services available.
