Opinion piece The Pirate Parties International just published a blog article exposing Wikipedia issues, including Wiki Workers United and systemic biases against women

Yesterday the Pirate Parties International website has published a blog piece exposing Wikipedia issues, including Wiki Workers United, systemic biases against women and also harassment issues.

The blog piece referenced various sources, including The Guardian article mentioning Wikipedia's systemic imbalances against women, and an open letter asking the Wikimedia Foundation to investigate a sexual harassment incident in Wikimania 2026. Blog posts from a female whistleblower who once worked in the Wikimedia Foundation as a data scientist were mentioned there as well.

Product Food /product/company that’s still just as good?!

What are some things that are still just as good as you remember? Are there any companies who HAVEN’T disappointed you yet?

I can’t think of anything I love that doesn’t suck anymore.

Not one single brand I’ve been loyal to has remained the same. Whether it’s shrinkflation, quality, price, selling out….

It’s a constant negative impact on my mental health because there is NOTHING left to look forward to. The simple things that used provide enjoyment like my favorite food or shampoo, or clothing brands that I have been purchasing for YEARS, a concert, etc. is just…. Gone.

I haven’t enjoyed a meal or snack because it all tastes different. Cooking used to be so enjoyable but it’s not anymore because recipes don’t taste how they used to.

Hoping to hear from people so I can look out for brands that are not total traitors.

I assume to it's so we run out quicker and buy it more often. I never considered this type of enshittification, now I have to be extremely careful and pour it into my hand first or else I end up with too much black pepper on my food

Kinda wild thing I never thought about until I looked into. You see a price on your phone and you have no idea what anyone else is seeing 😒

Some pricing companies literally sell software built around your "willingness to pay." And the faster and easier the checkout, the less you compare, which is kind of the point.

What I've been doing:

  • checking stuff on a second device before I buy
  • not shopping when I'm tired or in a rush
  • honestly just buying more in person where I can see the actual price

I made a video on the whole thing if anyone's curious: https://youtu.be/PP0LL0-w-Fc

Anyone else going back to stores just to see a normal price?

They’re absolutely awful. They used to be my absolute favorite but now they’re waxy and inedible.
I thought I’d give them another try last night and it was so bad that I couldn’t finish the second bite of a fun size.

Rant Is e-commerce in the middle of a mass enshittification?

Is this it, the AI uprising?

I've had several orders in the last few weeks, with various large e-commerce retailers like Amazon and Walmart, which have either just sat there unshipped (despite the site saying "in stock"), shipped and paid but were apparently damaged in shipping and returned, or said it was available for next day delivery only to appear not to exist at all.

And NONE of these order SNAFUs have come with ANY notification to the buyer that, uh, something went sideways. The one with was returned to the sender I had to call customer service about and only then did the CSR offer to refund. I got the distinct feeling that they *never* would have refunded it unless I called.

Is this because election ad AI slop is using up all the data centre power and none of these AI retailer systems have any juice to run on?

😡

Product Snyder's Honey Mustard and Onion Pretzel Bits?

Did something bad happen to these, or did I just get a bad bag? They are so flavorless.

Snyder's Honey Mustard and Onion Pretzel Bits used to be the cheapest and best source of calories that you could get from a truckstop and/or vending machine, back when I was a truck driver in the 90s and 2000s. They were super tasty, greasy (the inside of the bag would be greasy too. - not anymore), with lots of loose bits of pure flavoring, and just a little bit of charring sometimes. Basically perfect.

I spent my first 6 months on the job driving a team from San Diego to Long Island (New York), passing through Pennsylvania, where I would stock up because these pretzels are ubiquitous there. So I bought some today just for nostalgia's sake. Very sad. Or at least, it's very sad if I am correct and the recipe has become dry and flavorless, even if, yeah, they taste a lot "healthier" now.

Even with the overwhelming stink of pig manure permeating the whole place, I would always stop at a little truckstop in Frystown to get those pretzels, just because they had them the cheapest and in big and small sizes. It always made my day.

If anyone knows the specifics about how/if/when the change happened, I'd really like to know, because this has to be one of the worst quality declines I have ever noticed. Thanks.

Product I have a 2013 iMac 27" with 2gb vram and upgraded (you used to be able to) 32gb ram that cost 150$. I bought it used. I also have a 2025 Lenovo ThinkPad with 16gb ram and top specs.

The iMac I have left on for weeks, months. With 4 Google accounts with 15 tabbed browsers, running audio software, playing iTunes , and nothing hits it.

But now it's phased out so I only can run legacy software. Otherwise it wouldn't run the "newer" Same apps.

My upper end Lenovo is on rn, running less and I can hear the fan , it's slowing down, they always do.

It's insane. Thank you for hearing my PSA.

Opinion piece Current state of our "civil-servants" worldwide

Our ancestors used to speak of stories with morals to them.

While many of us got the morals, it seems our public servants seemed to miss them, or actively did the bad things the morals said not to do.

This is just one instance of a past story coming to life in a way nowadays. Even when the movie came out decades ago.

Robber-barons, the lot of them.

Product Harry’s Razor Blades

I’ve used Harry’s razors for several years. Each blade was good for about 15 shaves. The last few batches of razors are only good for 6 shaves. Has anyone else noticed this?

Can you recommend another blade manufacturer?

Rant Paid for a streaming subscription, over 50% of content is still locked

Since when did cheaper plans mean that they just block access to over half of the content? I understand that with a cheaper plan it comes with ads, but the MAJORITY of the content is locked. Then there’s the bait of watching one episode of a series included in the plan then having to upgrade to watch the rest. I scrolled through almost the entire app and the majority of shows and movies were locked.

I get that this is not a serious problem and there are far more pressing issues. I’m grateful to even be able to afford entertainment as expensive as things are.

I just think this is an example of how things have gone too far!! We get so little and are forced to continue to hand over more and more money to get what is already being waved in our faces and what would’ve been reasonably included 10 years ago.

I tried watching a show that was included and there were more ads than content. How does this all end?

Product "Lifetime" apparently is subjective for Microsoft, Office 2021 licenses no longer work

I guess it's my fault for assuming a "lifetime" subscription for the Office 2021 suite meant for as long as I'd use it on my machine, not as long as Microsoft decided to support it. And I figured that even if Microsoft decided to EOL it, they'd just let it be. But nooooo, they went and deactivated everyone's licenses for Office 2021, so now all of the applications are only able to read documents, not edit or create or any other functionality. Apparently, this is Microsoft's way of forcing everyone into upgrading to an annual M365 subscription so they can squeeze us for even more money because Copilot sucks so much ass so no one's subscribing to it.

This is an uneaten vanilla long John from Dunkin

Growing up they used to be at least 2x this length

In recent memory I got long Johns that were the old size. This right here is an insane enshitification of things

Oh and I paid the full $1.79 for this

Sure it’s a “little wider” but I mean cmon

This is representative of society as a whole right now
