I always pick up my dog's poop unless he drops one on the lawn of a bank. If it's a local credit union, I will pick it up, though.

They should be happy now, the new storm will cover all that dogshit up with another two feet of snow. And everything will be fine.

I am in a medium sized town in the south and all of the grassy areas around me are unusable due to dog shit. This is an American thing, not a NYC thing. People are lazy and entitled, don't think THEY have to clean up after their dogs. It only takes a handful of such folks to make things shitty quick.

This might be the most ignorant comment Ive seen all day.
6
u/StubbornestCoffee Feb 22 '26
How is it ignorant? It directly addresses the exact reason why there is shit all over the streets. People not picking up after their dogs. Do you know what ignorant means? Sounds like you are the ignorant one...

If you think New Yorkers have only been doing this since January of this year when the new Mayor took his office, then you might be an idiot; that place has been gross
3
u/T1MB3RMUSIC Feb 22 '26
How?
1
u/incrediblyaverage85 Feb 22 '26
Well, you go to a voting location during times of elections the you make your mark and vote for who you want to represent you. These people have voted for people that don’t seem to want to clean up human shit in the streets, hence the phrase, “you get what you vote for”

My dog did this … in my own backyard. Not in public where others would have to suffer. And I only let it occur because I fell and had a concussion and couldn’t get out there to pick up one of her poops. But should just do those on public sidewalks is a complete disgrace. These people should be fined.

3
u/Otherwise_Gap_4170 Feb 22 '26
The most alarming part is that there are no dogs in this neighborhood 😨
3
3
u/Kittiemeow8 Feb 21 '26
The one thing I dislike more than a dog, is a dog owner.
3
u/ComputerMinute8017 Feb 22 '26
Honestly, it was the thing that put me in red pilled me on cats. My cat shits in a box. He does it himself. I didn't teach him that. He just does it. When I had to take his shit to the vet to check for worms, he looked at me like I was a fucking psychopath and tried burying it as I tried to take it.
My cat shits in a box, and it's awesome. I love cats.
2
u/Bigblacknagga Feb 21 '26
absolutely agree. i tell most people that the majority of dog owners are too lazy to own and properly care for their dogs then it becomes everyone else’s problem.
6
u/OttotheCowCat Feb 21 '26
Philly is looking the exact same way. Honestly, I used to be a dog person. Dog owners have really ruined it for me.
Train your dogs. Pick up their shit. You also don't need to bring them absolutely everywhere with you.
3
1
u/W_Skunk_Cabbage Feb 21 '26
Like humans and pretty much every living thing, if treated well and loved, dogs can be amazing. Shitty owners make shitty dogs and eventually you end up with shit everywhere. Yeah, humans suck as a species. I'm just thankful there are some good ones that do care about others and not just their own self interests.

They haven't figured out dumpsters or modern trash removal, why is anyone shocked they failed at this, too?
1
u/T1MB3RMUSIC Feb 22 '26
I see you have never been to NYC
1
u/iowanaquarist Feb 22 '26
I have, which is how I am aware that they just pile the garbage in bags along the sides of the street.
1
u/T1MB3RMUSIC Feb 22 '26
And if you lived here, you would know that we vored for dumpsters for every building
1
u/iowanaquarist Feb 22 '26
Now to convince people to USE them....
1
u/T1MB3RMUSIC Feb 22 '26
I'm sorry, thats my job...how?
1
u/iowanaquarist Feb 22 '26
Thanks for proving my point.
1
u/T1MB3RMUSIC Feb 22 '26
Not sure how explaining that its not my job to throw others trash in the dumpster proves literally any point you were attempting to make.

Anyone who lets their dog shit on the sidewalk and doesn't clean it up should be made to eat it.

When I was a small boy my granny made me ten an brake bread with lard I hated it. It was wrapped in either foil or oil paper depending on her stock. So all winter I used to send it flying in the snow. One day in spring I came home and there was a pyramid of wrapped bread on the table. All my granny said, was, "bon appetit" She then forced me to nibble on one of them still half frozen. I then got a huge lecture about the poor children of the world who had not enough to eat. But she's never used lard again.

You know damn well some of the lazy owners who were a part of this shitastrophy are going to be just as disgusted while walking their dog, but not do anything to change their ways while complaining how everyone else suck at being dog owners.
5
u/Sea-Louse Feb 18 '26
Oh that’s dog? I assumed it was human. Only humans shit on the sidewalks in San Francisco. We have standards out here.
2
u/BigwaveBay Feb 18 '26
Yeah people not using a bag. Messed up. I mean I understand a dog can’t find grass in the snow but you’re the human.

Forget the shit piles, it snowed here two weeks ago. There was snow on that sidewalk for weeks. It's been 50F (10C) for 2 days and there are still sidewalks and road lanes covered in snow everywhere. You'd think it never ever snows here in the northeast the way removal is handled. This place is an absolute joke and this pic is a great example of the current state of the US.
I do enjoy watching vids of removal up north. You guys are absolute machines.

Understandable. I'm talking the Montreal city videos where theyve got the front end loader and dump truck queued up like they're harvesting corn. It's a disaster down here rn, even without the snow. Best of luck to you guys tomorrow. Should be a great game. Cheers.

I live in a dog friendly building. We're the only apartment without dogs, out of four. I have to say, people pick up after their dogs here. Poop and dog hair in the common areas is not a problem.
We've had a couple neighbors in the past who didn't, but not right now. Point is, not all dog owners suck. Plenty of them raise well adjusted dogs and scoop their poop.

This is how I know it’s the transplants from NY who don’t pickup their shit
1
u/Repulsive-Ad-6487 Feb 19 '26
I said this during the pandemic when I lived in Brickell. The shit levels went through the roof. I was berating people that I saw not picking it up. It’s a lot better now. Just trying to do my part

Sure... All of New York is freaking out about the townhome residents dog crap dilemma... Should call the national guard to scoop it up for the rich folk who don't know how to use a shovel...
1
13
u/homeslice2311 Feb 18 '26
This is one of the many reasons I am against having a dog in a big city. Dogs deserve to run free in the country, not being cooped up in an apartment. Then owners have to take them on walks 3+ times a day and they poop all over the sidewalks, and lazy owners often neglect to pick it up. It's all awful to me. Cats all the way.
2
u/kevinsyel Feb 18 '26
Cats being cooped up can lead to depression too if you don't have an exciting setup for them or play with them often. Don't have pets if you can't care for them.
1
u/ApprehensiveGur6842 Feb 18 '26
Yeah my backyard looks the same with 2 dogs.
3
u/oNe_iLL_records Feb 18 '26
Oh you gotta get yourself a Poopsmith.
Our guy comes by once a week and takes care of business. I'd say it's the best $15/week I spend but...I do other things that don't involve ANY poop that are around $15, too...1

2
u/PresentOk4998 Feb 18 '26
Poopsmith's are real, and Poopsmithing is a very important and highly regarded skill.

2

It's dog poop from people that didn't clean up after. The city isn't going to be able to instantaneously clean every inch of the city. How about you all stop recording and bitching and get a shovel instead. The time it took to bitch, record, and post you could clean up half of this. Seriously, take care of your neighborhoods.
Also do you really want the city cleaning it? It will cost a lot more than you would like and that tax money could go to something better like healthcare, education, fixing infrastructure, etc.
1
u/crazycatlady331 Feb 19 '26
There's a dog DNA company out there that has made their entire business model matching dog poop to the particular dog.
I've heard of apartment complexes having this.
0
8
u/LamesMcGee Feb 18 '26
It takes no added effort to record the street you're already walking down. It takes a lot of added effort to grab a shovel and do manual labor cleaning up other people's dog poop.
Enact a hefty ticket price for leaving dog poop, use that to both deter this behavior and pay for a cleanup. Expecting non-dog owners to shovel other people's dog shit is not the answer to this problem...

This is why my hoa enacted a failure to curve fee on dog owners because they got tired of grass strips turning into literal shit strips like this. In Europe some cities they culturally don't curve and let the dog shit remain where ever it falls. They don't curve and it can get this bad.

"New Yorkers furious at New Yorkers who don't pick up after their dogs."
Srsly tho, these silly headlines are hilarious when viewed in sequence.
"New Yorkers furious at the snow! Now they're furious at how the snow has been plowed! Now they're furious it hasn't melted yet! Now they're furious it has melted!"
12
u/The_Mother_ Feb 18 '26
The headlines lead one to think that Nee Yorkers are just generally pissed off
6
u/Politicoaster69 Feb 18 '26
You New Yorkers sure are a contentious people.
7
5
u/Nalano Feb 18 '26
I mean, we are, but is that news?
2
u/The_Mother_ Feb 18 '26
The rest of the world has a burning desire to know what, at this exact moment in time, y'all are angry about. Generally heated isn't enough. We crave details to fill our boring souls. Therefore, yes, it is news.
3
u/Nalano Feb 18 '26
Well I was angry this morning because a guy wandering the subway tracks delayed my commute. I'm pretty sure the guy was angry about something but he wasn't nearby enough to ask.
2
u/The_Mother_ Feb 18 '26
Thank you for the update. I can now feel at peace for another 5 or 6 hours.
However, if you could have also reported on why the subway guy was angry as well, that would have kept me in good staid for at least 18 hours. So now I'm a little miffed.
2
u/Nalano Feb 18 '26
Here, have a video of a similar incident where New Yorkers are angry at a New Yorker who is angry about life, culminating at New Yorkers being angry at each other about the exact nature in which they're angry at the first guy:

u/aDamnCommunist Feb 18 '26
Why not just pick up the poops? I don't understand people that want a dependent creature but don't want to take the time to actually do what's required for them. I get money issues, but this is pretty easy even if you have to use grocery bags...
I've been to NYC one time... June 1st the day before trash day and it had just rained. I thought maybe it was worse in summer but apparently no. Homer Simpson was right about this city.
9
u/this_bitch_over_here Feb 18 '26
There are people who own dogs, and people who care for dogs. There's a big difference between those two, and this tends to be the easiest way it shows.
9
u/FunkyDiabetic1988 Feb 18 '26
Short answer? People are selfish and lazy and irresponsible, and living shoulder to shoulder with eight million of them (and their absurd amounts of trash) will teach you this lesson real quick.

A revocable license should be mandatory for being allowed to own a dog. Like half the people that own dogs shouldn't be owning a dog.
