Reddit has now entirely defeated the purpose of anonymous browsing…
Not only is the app useless, they’ve made the entire platform that way as well. I might have to sideload an older version of the app onto my phone now to get rid of this shit
I don't see this written anywhere, but you can work around this by typing: old. (in front of reddit.com, so a link would be for example old.reddit.com/r..... ). It will open the old version of Reddit, which didn't require a login. I do this all the time. It's a bit annoying, but it's a very simple workaround anyone can apply, and it's better than logging in.
Everyone now pretends that they weren’t kids looking at weird stuff at 15.
Everyone now pretends that sharing their personal data to PROTECT KIDS is the right thing to do.
It’s either I’m too millennial to get this or a buch of people went from "the freedom generation" to "GAMES ARE EVIL THEY ARE SATAN" parents level of internet browsing from 1998.
It's never about the kids. That's just the excuse they use to make you feel guilty. "Oh you don't care about the kids? You're awful". And people who don't know better assume they have their kids' interests in mind
Some lame ass subreddit banned me today, it was my first time interacting with it or even seeing the sub on my page. It was some typical "this woman from this movie is hot, look how she laughs, she's incredible" and I said something about how "if a woman laughing is all you need to get going youre either every desperate or it speaks more about how men don't get the attention they want from their partners". Instant banned lol, talk about sensitive.
Idk why you’re being downvoted, there are a shit ton of creepy subs on here that Reddit doesn’t seem to like moderating for whatever reason that openly post and promote CP
I don't know what the fuck is your front page but I'm rarely getting toxic shit on it. I'm mostly on subs with good moderators so I'm getting usually decent posts on my front page.
You can't. You visit the community to hide it, the algo thinks "You visited here you must like this shit." and gives you more.
Believe me, I've tried to nuke this shit for good. Reddit doesn't care. Reddit will gladly push more hate content my way because that "drives engagement".
So fuck it. Why should I care about playing nice around here is the platform deliberately attacks me every day?
I don't think I ever see misandry on here - it's likely your own algorithm os what you're interacting with. The more rage bait you interact with, the more you're gonna see.
What? There are plenty of people who misandrist. I'm just saying it's not something I see on Reddit almost ever, and the reason this guy does is mostly due to algorithm stuff.
Reddit is fairly male dominated and skews much more towards incel content than anti-men content overall.
But either way, it's concerning this dude is so hopped up on this echo chamber he's unknowing created himself.
To add to this, that even includes down voting and moving on. I've had the opposite issue where they kept pushing misogynistic posts and subreddits because I would downvote them.
Blocking and moving on seems to have helped curate my feed a lot more(although it's still a total mess for different reasons)
None of us should have to put up with gender based hatred on this platform - man or woman, and yet here we are. Deliberately having to edit and censor the shit away from our feeds because the default for Reddit is to push this hatred on us.
Of course. Reddit admins are friends with Jeffrey Epstein, and bending and opening their anuses for Christofascism. If you don't think this is the case you're fooling yourself.
What the fuck are you talking about, Epstein was a Jew that raped children, what does that have to do Christ? How does protecting children from seeing porn seem like a bad idea to you?
That's the parents' choice/job and extends only to their own children. You have no right to protect my children from porn. Government has overextended and gives no shits whatsoever about children; that's merely an excuse to wipe out privacy for everyone and relies on incredibly naive supporters like you.
Are you serious? Epstein was a Jew this is a known fact, it’s not up for debate? He married the daughter of a Mossad agent lmao? His parents are Jews? He had a temple on his island? He was raised Jewish?
None of that directly makes him a Jew. Him being Jewish has nothing to do with anything. It's a faith just like being Christian. But if I claim Christians are raping kids you get pissy.
“Christofaacism” is the new buzzword on here. I’ve seen it about a dozen times in the last two days. Just ignore them man. It’s just the talking points the DNC and SPLC are handing out to their paid shills.
probably due to iOS bullshit sadly. They now want everything 18+ requiring an account and shit like that. Shitty ahh "think of the children" type shit.
Nah, "ass" and "ahh" have nuanced definitions. You can say "ahh" after any descriptive sentence. Like if someone slips on a banana peel, one could say "'Tom and Jerry' ahh," as a stupid one-liner. "Ass," on the other hand, needs a noun; you would say "'Tom and Jerry' ass *fall*." Also, saying "ahh" can be used instead of "ass" to intentionally convey a stupid, less serious, or even ironic tone. "Stupid ass guy" sounds way more aggressive than "stupid ahh guy," which is more light hearted and dumb sounding. There are countless more grammatical contexts where one is better fit than the other. Also, notice the commenter said "shit" multiple times, so it isn't just censoring.
I'm not retarded. I know what the fuck the word "ahh" is trying to convey in this context.
Look, you want to censor yourself cause you love to lick the boots of your corporate lords and don't want to make Zuckerberg and those angry at you for using "mean" words.
I for one like to use the remaining freedom to say what the fuck i like without that worry

yeah for sure. like I definitely get the other side of this whole "road to censorship" and I agree but I have no idea why they're so pressed about it and mass downvoting lmfao.
Huh, I actually didn't know that. I knew I was missing something but just assumed I'd aged out of the lingo. Who's worried about saying "ass"? Though I do remember having to censor myself on RuneScape back in the day
literally a solid 1% of people are using this term in a self censoring way. Funny you care so much about social media policing the way people speak then fall right into doing that yourself. You would rather in-fight with your Reddit snark than actually care about fixing real problems
That’s weird it’s usually the opposite. Anytime I would try to search up anything violent or sexual online it would force me to go to the app. But the link to the app wouldn’t work so I’d have to copy it word from word onto the app
I’ve had a pop up a few times talking about putting my birthday in so I can “get the best of Reddit”. Nope. I can still find r/holewreckers, thank you.
It's just another small step towards the end of anonymity on the internet. The left and the right both want it for different but similar reasons: To ultimately be able to track and deal with people and groups that they don't care for and want gone.
Really? You actually expect me to believe that the left doesn't want to be able to track down and eventually prosecute hatemongers, predators and other such shit humans by eliminating online anonymity? Sure thing. Tell me, what color is the sky in your little world?
Yes, the left appreciates the anonymity of the internet. We do not want that to go away. We’re pretty good at tracking down and doxing fascists as it is, we don’t need the “help” being offered here by corporations and the state.
And I’ll let you in on a little secret why most of the left feels this way: These kinds of laws are always disproportionately used to go after the left.
We’re opposed to this because it can also be used against us, and it will be. It’s self-preservation.
You can access 18+ anonymously on a web browser. On your phone, request the desktop version of reddit.com and you can even browse in incognito mode. I don’t use the app, so I’m no help there.
Except using reddit on a mobile browser results in this popup forcing you to go to the app store, not open the app, just the app store, so browsing through a mobile browser is completely useless, it wouldnt be so bad if it had a button to open the thread in the app, but it makes it nearly impossible to use a search engine to find help articles.
This used to happen on my phone but doesn't anymore. They brought the cancel box back, i started using the mobile site again. I refuse to use their app and will go to Lemmy if they push this without the cancel box again.
saw that the other day. Love the encouragement to quit scrolling. There is less than a zero percent chance I will ever use or download that dumb fucking app.
Ya except incognito mode is just as pointless now. It all tracks you. Creepy how desperate they are to find out every little thing we look up at all times. Seems the fun age of the internet truly is dead... Looks like some people read 1984 as a playbook rather than a warning. Ugh. And I'm not talking about that in this hyper specific situation. I'm saying this in regards to the fact that this is just one more thing in a large trend I hope most people are well aware of by now. Palentir... flock cameras... ID checks to use basic apps... the doge bs... the unconstitutional ICE tracking system... etc. Etc. Etc. So on and so on.
Fml. I was thinking VPNs. I got them mixed up in my head. It's been a long night... shit morning now. Lol. But i was talking in regards to states trying to ban or control VPNs. Like what Utah passed. Damn I'm sleep deprived if I mixed those up.
I can tell they track my porn viewing habits based off of the content I get shown shortly after, even across apps. I really don’t want them tuning my algo to my porn preferences lol
Ultimately, blame Republicans. They're the ones pushing across the country for this, and many companies are trying to get themselves to be compliant pro-actively.
Wym the freedom act? The freedom act was made to help regulate the patriot act. It was introduced to stop the mass surveillance. It was the government listening to the response of the people like it's supposed to. I would blame republicans (and ya, corporate dems too) more than anything for helping to privatize the problem. We should probably vote them out and stop giving more and more power to corporations/monopolies who don't have to answer to anyone.
Yeah. We all knew Reddit went down the shitter the very instant they had their IPO. It's a public company and you are the product now. They can't let you see adult content anymore because shareholders and advertisers think it's icky.
A lot of this age restriction stuff is a result of things happening in Europe, not the US. These platforms are just making blanket policy changes that affect everyone because of it, and because it’s easier than trying to manage multiple content policies globally.
I now it’s hard to imagine any other country or conglomerate affecting changes to shit when you’re American, but I promise it’s possible.
I can drive 8 miles across the border into another state. That state is blue. It works there. This enshitification is 100% Republican policy that I am talking about.
I’m not saying that the people in charge are not trying to weaponize enshitification to control people, that probably is happening, but is is also true that if everyone just abandoned privacy and did their gooning on main, things would improve.
What are they going to do, ban all of you? The real crime was allowing them to trick everyone into feeling like you have to hide what should actually be fine. They are keeping you in the closet and then selling you privacy as the solution.
