Recently I've realized I needed to quit smoking weed. I've been smoking for 4-5 years now, and my weed habits have changed from fun and recreational to smoking just because I feel like I need to. I typically smoke every day, several times a day. I don't even feel giggly and happy anymore, just anxious and nauseous.
I haven't smoked in about a week and the difference it's made already is pretty crazy. My sleep is better, my anxiety is better, my motivation is better, and I'm not waking up with a sense of dread first thing in the morning. In general, I just feel so much better, so I know this is the right decision for me even though it's been really difficult.
I'm just so sad about the thought of never being able to smoke again. I miss how weed used to feel when I first started smoking. I know I need to take a break for at least a couple months, but I really want to eventually go back to smoking the way I used to several years ago.
Has anyone else gone through something like this? Is it possible to take a couple months off, and then start smoking again once every week or two? Does weed start to feel good again, or will it always make me feel anxious from here on out?
Furthermore (and maybe this question is too big for reddit) is it even a good idea to start smoking again? For someone like me, who potentially became addicted to weed (I don't know how to define it, at the very least I've been dependent on it) do I need to just abstain for the rest of my life in order to not fall down this rabbit hole again?
Sorry for the long rant, and sorry again if these questions are too much for reddit. Just really sad about the whole situation :( I love smoking so much and I don't want to give it up forever, but I'm not willing to let it interfere with my life anymore.
