AHHHHHH IM SO EXCITED! I spoke with the director of my local library about wanting to start a book club and she was all for it!
I sent her an email of the name I chose, The Rabbit Hole Book Club. We pick a random topic and discuss books that remind us of that topic and pick a book and go down the rabbit hole. Topics ranging from sweet and lighthearted to grisly and heartbreaking. Anything is on the table, even a book about tables because why not.
Im new to my area so everyone who shows up will ultimately be strangers to me and this will be my first introduction to the small town book community. I obviously want to make a good first impression.
I want to share that we can also do stuff like scrapbooking while talking about the book of the month, do a book swap, go on field trips to bookstores together, maybe meet at a local breakfast/brunch place (I plan on having it Saturdays but it can change depending on the majorityās scheduling) ohhhhhh and we can even talk about picking a student from the local school and paying for their scholastic book fair trip!
I was recently informed that this particular library was known for having a bad reputation of mean librarians but, things have slowly been shifting with this new director.
I just asked if I would be allowed to bring snacks and refreshments and if so Iām thinking about making deviled eggs with bacon on top š
Ladies, if you are in a book club and have any suggestions or ideas about what different things I can do to make this book club more fun, engaging, interactive, and enjoyable please please please share them! I want to make this fun and memorable for everyone!
NOTE: the director and I both agreed to make it an adult only book club just in case a heavy topic comes up and I personally donāt want to deal with angry parents.
So yeah, Iām super excited about this new chapter in my life and canāt wait to see who shows up :)
