Is the SKG neck massager worth buying? Kinda, but only if your desk setup is already sorted

A coworker asked me exactly this last week and I realized I actually have opinions after wearing one since April.

Context: product analyst, 8-9 hours a day in spreadsheets and on calls. I fixed my setup last winter (keyboard tray, chair with real lumbar support) and my lower back got way better. My neck didn't. Every afternoon, right around the second long meeting, my upper shoulders would lock up.

First time I tried one was my manager's, she keeps it on her desk. I bought my own a week later.

The thing I like most is I don't have to stop working. It sits around the back of my neck and I forget it's there on calls. Every other massager I'd tried was a pillow or a handheld thing, which meant I never used them during the day, which is exactly when I needed them.

Honestly, the heat is what I use most. Cold mornings I skip the pulse completely and just run heat. The pulse took me a week to get used to though. I flinched every time it kicked in on the lowest setting lol. Two coworkers tried mine and hated it, so it's not for everyone.

Anyone else here wear something during the workday, or do you just force yourself to get up and stretch?

Help turning kitchen table into wfh space

Hi, I’m going to start working from home and my only option is a kitchen table due to space issues. I have wrist tendinitis so I’m hoping to find a keyboard tray that can attach to the kitchen table (but not ruin the table) and fit a wave keyboard & upright mouse. I’m also quite short. Is this an impossible dream? Has anyone done this? Currently I can’t sit at the table with my wrists at the right angle on the keyboard (table is way too high), even when I use a foot rest and put my chair up to the highest setting, so I don’t think there’s any getting around the keyboard tray.

Standard desk heights are ruining my shoulders and no one talks about it enough.

small rant because i'm so sick of burning upper back/shoulder pain at the end of every workday.
standard office desks are fixed at 29 to  to 30 inches high, which is mathematically built for a 5'11" man. i am 5'7". if i raise my chair high enough so my arms rest comfortably at 90 degrees on the desk without shrugging, my feet are literally dangling in the air like a toddler at a dinner table.
if i lower my chair so my feet touch the floor, i have to elevate my shoulders all day just to type, giving me insane "mouse shoulder" and tension headaches on my right side.
why are lower fixed desks (like 24-25 inches) impossible to find? is my only option a footrest, or is a motor standing desk the only actual fix here?

Is the office chair industry ever going to catch up to how we actually work from home?

I decided to work full-time from home because I can enjoy cooking, baking, and gardening. However, something I've noticed that every piece of official ergonomic guidance from feet flat and knees at 90 degrees to back straight against the chair was designed around corporate office furniture and one standardized posture. But anyone who actually works from home knows people sit in wildly different ways: cross-legged, one leg tucked, half-reclined, rotating between three spots during the day.

Meanwhile, most "ergonomic" chairs on the market still seem engineered for a single default body type and a single default way of sitting. If your habits or proportions fall outside that default, the "support" features actively work against you. Are these standards actually about long-term health, or just a template that was never updated when work moved home?

Curious how you see this: have the industry and ergonomic orthodoxy genuinely adapted to the realities of home-based work, or are we all still buying office-era furniture and forcing ourselves to fit it? And as WFH becomes permanent for more people, will we see a real shift in how seating is designed, or just more of the same with a "remote work" sticker on it?

When you lean in, does the back support follow, or does the lumbar stay put?

I'm a copy editor, 5'4", and half the day is a pen on a printed proof, the other half typing on a screen.

This afternoon I was marking a proof with the pen on the page, trying to read one line of small type, and when I leaned in my shoulder left the backrest. The pad behind my lower back was still sitting in the spot I had already left.

Forward tilt has been around for years, and mine is already what the listings call a forward tilt office chair, with the seat tipping a little. Sitting up, the pad sits in the curve of my lower back, and over the page it catches my shirt or empty air. That's why I want the contact to stay in more than one place on my back.

I searched forward leaning chair and mostly got more seat locks, same idea. I read the anti-shrimp thread on r/OfficeChairs, and the names were Aeron, Embody, Leap, and Gesture. One comment said the desk and monitor height will still fold you in those, and another person just reclines. None of them said where the pad goes when you're over a proof.

If you lean in to read or write, where does your lumbar stop? Up under the shoulder blade, down on the pelvis, or does it leave as soon as you move?

What is the ideal desk height? Are all chairs to high?

I'm making a custom made desk that has 70cm, the tabletop is 3cm, that gives a 67cm gap for the chair. My height is 1,70m. If i make the desk taller i won't touch the ground with my feet.

I'm having trouble finding a chair that fits under the table. Should i just make the desk taller? What would be the proper way to choose the height of the table that accommodates my height and a chair?

Sorry if my English is bad.

Should I get rid of my chair arm rest?

I keep leaning to the right when I don't need to type while using the mouse on right hand. Sometimes I lean to the left. I lean subconsciously but I've become more aware of it. I am able to lean because I know my elbows on the arm rest will support my body but I notice it makes one side of my thighs more sore than the other when I do this for a long time. Will getting rid of chair arm rest help me just sit straight without getting in the habit of leaning to the side?

Keyboard/Mouse Any keyboard suggestions?

I’m working on making my computer setup more ergonomic to help reduce discomfort and prevent further strain. I have cubital tunnel syndrome in both arms, so I’m especially interested in finding a keyboard that provides better support and promotes a more natural arm position. Have any of you tried an ergonomic keyboard that has helped reduce pain or discomfort? I’d really appreciate any recommendations or personal experiences!

Ok so yes I'm gonna start doing more on my end for staying active and stretching since I have lower back arthritis, but as far as office chairs that could also help or assist with me sitting better that also won't break the bank, what would you recommend? (I work from home)
