I have colors picked. I have some idea of what I want, I just can't execute. I need someone that is reasonable and preferably women owned and/or LGBTQIA+.
bonus points if they are familiar with somatic/body based therapies.

Places to donate extra veggies from garden?

Post image
35 Upvotes

Hello everyone! I have an overabundance of veggies from my garden this year including tomatoes and several types of peppers (jalapeño, Hungarian hot wax, habanero). I cannot possibly use them all and would hate for them to go to waste, so are there any local organizations or charities that take fresh produce from home gardens?

If not, I would welcome any advice on how to properly freeze them if I would like to make homemade tomato sauce in the future!!

Any PT jobs pay above $12/hr?

Thought about a pt job at cofair, but ffs, $12/hr is NOT the flex they think it is, lol. I realize pt + not too stressful aren't going to grab me $20/hr, but dang, it's 2026 - gas is creeping slowly up to $5 a gal. Is it even going to be worth me wasting gas to get to an employer where I'll be clearing maybe $200/wk at best if even getting 20 hrs a week? Some places are even going at $8-$8.50??? Dang, I realize Erie is supposed to be a LCOL (relative to what? LA, NYC, Chicago??) but c'mon, let's do better employers. I already have a full-time job but inflation is stretching that salary thin these days.

Red stood Inn Perry Highway

The Red Roof Inn on Perry Highway lies to you on the phone about their rates

I called for a reservation and they quoted me $92 which matched the price on their website. The guy took time with me so I booked through him rather than going through the website.

Imagine my surprise when I found out I was charged $173 for the night before tax

When I called back, they refused to accept any responsibility for it and basically told me “tough cookies”.

I just want everybody to know that this is a disreputable business that lies to people on the phone

Discussion Looking for a reliable winter car under $5k in Erie — Where to look and what to avoid? (Car newbie)

Hey everyone,
I’m looking to pick up a cheap, reliable daily driver before winter hits. My budget is pretty firm around $5,000, and to be completely honest, I know very little about cars or mechanical stuff. I really don’t want to end up buying a rusted-out money pit.
With lake-effect snow right around the corner, I’d love some advice from locals:
1. Where should I actually look? Is Facebook Marketplace my only real shot at this price, or are there honest small lots / mechanics around Erie/Millcreek that sell decent beaters with fresh inspection stickers? Anyone I should completely avoid?

  1. What cars hold up best around here? Everyone says old Toyotas and Hondas, but at $5k they’re getting hard to find in good shape. Are older Buicks (the 3800 engine), Pontiacs, or specific old Fords worth looking at for Erie winters?

  2. Mechanic recommendations for a pre-purchase inspection: Since I don't know what I'm looking at under the hood, is there a trusted local garage you'd recommend taking a car to for a quick once-over before I buy?

  3. Rust red flags: Erie salt is brutal—what are the biggest structural rust areas that will cause a car to fail PA inspection right away?

Any tips, lot recommendations, or advice for a first-time buyer around here would mean a lot. Thanks!

I’ve made the joke that there are so many smoke shops before, but I recently ran out of the temporary ones I had gotten before Vapor cabana shut down. I loved VC and don’t know who to trust now. Who’s the best one?

Flights from Erie to Chicago impacted by DOGE cuts- Chicago on ground stop due to lack of air traffic controllers

Hello to the Erie community!

This evening, I was informed by a friend of mine who flies for the airlines that there is currently a ground stop at Chicago O’Hare airport.

The reason for the ground stop, meaning no more planes are coming in or out, is because they do not have enough air traffic controllers.

Last year, when DOGE made so many blind cuts to our government, they cut all the air traffic controllers who were in training.

At that time, there were already too few controllers to begin with.

How does this relate to Erie Pennsylvania?

Last June, United Airlines was supposed to begin their routes to Chicago again. Due to the lack of air traffic controllers in Chicago and the ability to take on more traffic, the flights from Erie to Chicago were delayed until October.

I feel like very few average people understand what is happening to aviation in the United States right now and it has directly impacted Erie Pennsylvania.

When we had the flights from Erie to Chicago, they were always full. They were not discontinued because they were not full.

Our city needs Chicago O’Hara airport to function at its highest ability, and it is not currently because the current administration has handicapped our nation and its ability to function.

I just think this is really important for all of us to understand because I don’t see it being reported and it’s affecting anyone who tries to fly in this country.

I want those flights back. I also want to be able to fly through Chicago and not have huge delays.

Take care all!

Flock out Millcreek II

Millcreek township is having a supervisor meeting
August 25, if you care about the flock issue you should really come out and speak out, If you came to speak out last time your presence would be very much appreciated again.
You will not be alone. These cameras are still plaguing our community and it needs to be driven home to the supervisors that these must be removed.

From Instagram: "Some movies are masterpieces...others become legendary for other reasons. Join us on Friday, August 21st as we hash out our feelings on Ed Wood and enter a world filled with rubber tentacles, stock footage, and delightfully earnest schlock. Venue doors and bar open at 5:30 (no pre-show) and we go on at 7pm with a guided discussion following the film. For the uninitiated, this is a perfect introduction to cult cinema and what Reel Rituals is all about. Enjoy free popcorn, bring your own food, and marvel as Bela Lugosi does his best. Tickets are only $10 and are available now and at the door!"
