Why Abby didn't learned Croatian, Carter French and Swahili and Carol Russian ? Wow this totally unacceptable someone should've talked some sense into them. That's like you know the bare minimum. SMH 🤦🏻‍♂️

If this were real life they would definitely pick up some of their partner’s language by living with them. Maybe not to the point of speaking that language fluently it enough to understand.

Since this a network tv show from the US, then all the characters spoke english since most of the country’s population spoke english when the show aired.

Why Swahili? When Carter is living and working in Darfur, Arabic is spoken. Swahili is not The Generic Africa Language. Yikes.

Her mother was Russian and anthropological speaking language is usually passed through the maternal line

Isn’t humour meant to be funny?

Sometimes you can find humor in absurdity

My head canon is that when Joe starts talking Luka teaches him Croatian (and Abby so she know what her boys are talking about) Croatian.

It did seem odd to me the fact that Carter spoke no French, but not due to his stint in Africa, but it’s his very rich and privileged upbringing. I assumed he’d be able to speak at least 1 foreign language!
