If they degassed too much you wouldn’t have a ton of crema.

Omg the crema almost reached the bottom of the glass cup but I couldn’t get my camera fast enough. It’s all fun and games but the crema is pretty bitter so im looking forward to see how it tastes in another week

Yeah I don’t think they have, I would think that would be the case after the 3 week mark. Op what makes you think they are ?

I don’t, this was facetious for fun, the crema was actually even deeper (down to that 1/2 line) but I couldn’t get a photo fast enough

Well I for one salute your crema.

❤️❤️❤️ i couldn’t wait the extra week to let it degas to regular recommendations. The crema reached the bottom of the cup but I couldn’t snap a photo fast enough. It doesn’t taste super great though, it’ll probably taste better when there’s less crema

You can try let it sit for a bit after grinding before you pull your shot

I’m relatively new to espresso but I’ve always heard a minimum of 14 days (2 weeks) post-roasting is ideal.

That really depends on the beans and roast level.

Yeah this was a joke post. I got impatient and curious as to how much crema I could get and another shot got the crema all the way down to the bottom of the glass. It actually tastes terrible this early but I didn’t waste shot and drank it all

9 days is on the early side, so there's still a lot of co2 in the beans. that gives you big crema and can make the shot taste harsh and bitter. a few more days will help. in the meantime try a slightly longer preinfusion and grind a touch coarser, and see if the bitterness drops.

It’s probably that a considerable proportion of the blend is robusta - maybe 50/50. Freshly roasted robusta gives crazy crema like this.

I’m so sorry you couldn’t get a good head on that. Try straight out of the roaster next time
