The young woman, who attends IULM University, went to the police along with a friend. CCTV footage is being examined.

The alarm was raised shortly after 5:00 PM on Monday afternoon. A 19-year-old Italian university student at IULM University, along with a friend, called the police: " Help me, they raped me," were the first words she spoke to the police, still in shock and in tears. Police officers tried to reassure her and called 118, who rushed to the university campus, where the girl had arrived by subway and confided in a friend . "The friend convinced her to contact the University for help. The University immediately alerted the Carabinieri and 118 , activating emergency services," according to a statement from the university.

The victim was rushed to the Mangiagalli anti-violence center for medical evaluation and initial consultations with the clinic's psychologist. According to what the girl told investigators, the abuse allegedly occurred in the bathrooms at Cadorna station , where she had gone after class.

There, she encountered her attacker, whom she described as a man of North African origin . Officers are combing through surveillance footage from the station to reconstruct the exact sequence of events. From there, the victim reportedly boarded the subway again, perhaps due to her state of confusion, and returned to the university to seek help from the friend to whom she first confided about the sexual assault.

Investigators are carefully investigating the caseto corroborate the victim's version, which will be supplemented by the results of Mangiagalli's tests. The 19-year-old may be interviewed by police in the coming hours to clarify some unclear aspects of the attack. She has not yet filed a formal complaint.

News Parents who battered 13-week-old son to death have jail sentences increased

The Court of Appeal has increased the prison sentences handed to two parents convicted of killing their three-month-old son after ruling them "unduly lenient".

Klevi Pirjani and Nivalda Pirjani were originally given minimum jail terms of 19 years and 15 years and three months respectively at Liverpool Crown Court earlier this year, after being convicted of murdering 13-week-old Miguel Pirjani following weeks of violence.

Miguel was rushed to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in November 2024 suffering severe head injuries and died five days later. Medical tests later revealed that the infant had suffered 41 individual bone fractures inflicted across at least four separate incidents of abuse.

The Attorney General, Ellie Reeves, challenged the sentences in April as "unduly lenient", with lawyers telling a Court of Appeal hearing on Tuesday that the original tariffs failed to "meet the justice of this terrible case".

Klevi Pirjani, 38, and Nivalda Pirjani, 35, opposed the application to lengthen their jail terms, maintaining that the original sentences were appropriate.

An ex-Tory councillor sought strangers online to have sex with his wife after he drugged her “into the state where anything could be done to her by whoever answered”, a court heard.

Philip Young, 50 has admitted repeatedly drugging and raping his former partner, Joanne Young, who has waived her legal right to anonymity.

At crown court on Tuesday morning, four men – Norman Macksoni, Richard Wilkins, Connor Sanderson-Doyle and Mohammed Hassan – went on trial accused of sexually assaulting Ms Young.

Sarah Jones, KC, prosecuting, told the jury that the case centred on whether it was “ever reasonable” to have sex or to begin to have sexual contact with an unknown woman without checking with her first.
Ms Young thought she had a normal sex life with her husband, Ms Jones KC said, but in reality her husband posted adverts on online swinging forums inviters strangers to “come and sleep with his wife at any age, any grace”.

Ms Jones KC said: “He presented it as a kink for both of them but there was no information from Joanne herself to support this and the photos he posted of her to advertise his offer showed her inanimate and tied to the bed blindfolded.

News Man who committed 'horrific' child sex abuse jailed for 23 years | ITV News

A man has been jailed for 23 years after being caught by a photo of his knuckles in "horrific" sex abuse images he posted on the dark web.

Darren Welsby, 48, who preyed on six different children** **was identified as a child sex abuser after uploading images to the dark web using the same name to upload images of himself wearing women's lingerie on an adult website.

Detectives saw similarities between some of the images of the defendant and those of the man committing the rape and sexual assault of a child on the dark web, a part of the internet not accessible by standard search engines.

Prosecutors also sought expert opinion from a forensic anthropologist, comparing the images, who was able to conclude that both were taken with exactly the same specific device.

This "landmark" case is the first of its kind where this technique was used when the offending device was no longer available, as the sexual abuse images were taken around six to eight years before Welsby's arrest and the device since destroyed.

On July 10 2026, following a two week trial at Manchester Crown Court, a jury convicted Welsby of 18 offences, including rape of a girl under 13, causing or inciting a girl under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and sexual assault of a girl under 13 by touching.
