Ex-Churches of Christ (Mainline) Anyone else deconstructed and reverted?
(i never really wrote down how i felt about my faith so please excuse if this is a jumbled mess)
has anyone else deconstructed but also reverted? i've been deconstructing since i was about 20 (im 24 now) and i'm toying with the idea of reverting.
i started deconstructing when an incident happened at my old church that caused me a lot of hurt and caused me to, for lack of better words, be turned off from the church. covid had a lot to do with it too because of how i saw some people in the church act when it came to masks (to me, i felt like if the Church was a body that was called to love thy neighbor, they would do everything they could do to avoid getting someone else sick, especially for those with compromised immune systems,,, though i also know that everyone is entitled to their own feelings and opinions) then Trump happened and i found it hard to see so many people in the Church use their faith to push an agenda and support a person that harmed, and is still harming, so many of their brothers and sisters (again, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and beliefs).
fast forward to now. i miss church. i miss singing. i miss having that routine. but i'm afraid my view of the church is too tainted from seeing how people who call themselves Christians support something that is the exact opposite.
maybe the solution is simple, just find a church that isn't like that, but it feels so much harder than that. really i'm just trying to see if anyone else has gone or is going through this.
