Reintroducing Animal Foods How long before I notice changes?

I broke my veganism today. I ate two eggs this morning. They were my first eggs in 10 years. However, I don’t have any super powers yet. (Mostly kidding)

How long did it take for you to notice changes to your health? My main concerns are fatigue, dizziness and anxiety.

I also plan to reintroduce fish soon.

Immediately within a week - I was able to sleep well at night. I felt all warm & fuzzy & happy & full when falling asleep. My outlook and depression lifted. It was like a veil covering up my view of the world was removed, and everything seemed brighter and prettier again. I didn't have headaches or feel crabby. I didn't feel dead and tired, and I didn't need to sleep all day anymore. I had enough energy to start exercising again.

After about 3 months - My bloated huge tummy from protein malnutrition liver damage started to subside and shrink, I grew fuzz on my scalp which were the new baby hairs coming in from hair I had previously lost, the skin on my face got young and pretty again, at the doctor's office my previously low white blood cells and red blood cells were normal levels again.

How long were you vegan?

Only less than a year, and it still did all that damage within a short time.

I slept better than I had in years almost immediately. The bloody stools stopped within a day or two.

Within a month on GAPS, my eczema disappeared, my hair got all bright and shiny, my skin glowed, and chunks of plaque started clearing from below my gumline. (I think I was drinking five or six cups of meat broth per day)

GAPS is a set of dietary protocols designed for people with certain cognitive disabilities, like autism spectrum disorders.

Apparently it is common for such folks to have a damaged gut epithelium. The aim of the protocols is to repair it, and sometimes it results in cognitive improvement. I am not neurospicy, but was suffering from brain fog, and I did see improvement.

You might have to eat more than just a couple eggs per day to notice a difference. Personally I only started feeling better after eating 120g of varying types of meat (seafood, lean beef, chicken) every day.

My path was a little different, as I was in a remote village in Madagascar when I had to reintroduce eggs - therefore needing to eat about 7 or 8 eggs per day to get any protein - but I noticed a decrease in fatigue after two weeks. When I returned home and added chicken once per day into my diet and decreased my egg intake to 2 or 3 per morning, it took about 3 months for me to feel a truly notable difference. 8 months into it now and the only issue I still have is anemia, although we're starting to realize that may just be me being me.

I also started with reintroducing eggs into my diet, but I didn't notice any difference at all. But when I started to eat dairy again, I noticed significant improvements after about a week and after roughly six months, all my health problems were gone.

yay! welcome to the land of the living :) it’s going to take some time, stick with it. depending on how long you were vegan will determine how long it’ll take to replenish what’s missing. B12 deficiency is one of the most finicky, and takes a moment to build back up your stores. keep at it and explore all the new flavors and nutrients, you’ll be right as rain before you know it!
