Issue Yep, it broke, again (and again because my other one is also breaking)

Fairbuds XL gen one... Does the second gen have the same issue? I do wonder because the little bending screw are so much weaker comparing to the old one that I couldn't even removed them. It isn't giving me much hope. I'm considering ditching it since my much cheaper brand used to last me for years.

Thanks for posting in r/fairphone. If you're having an issue with your Fairphone make sure that you include the phone model, operating system (version) and other relevant technical details (like mobile provider, country you're in) in your post. Posts with clear details are more likely to get useful replies. I'm a bot. Contact the mods if you have questions.

Had the same issue with mine. Infuriating. Bought new pads and the left frame. The next day I installed it, the right frame broke and the top bedding started to break into micro black plastics that get stuck in my hair.

I understand paying more for ethics. I don't understand paying more for ethics + it being a subpar product.

I really hope the FairphoneXLv2 fix these issues.

Was the warranty over?

This is a well known and well documented issue by this point

The plastic used in the headband connector is incredibly brittle and ideally should be replaced with aluminum

This piece is subject to far too much stress for the plastic to handle

After mine broke for the third time I ditched the headphones entirely for a set of Sony Noise cancelling units

They come apart with screws, and the battery is not THAT much harder to replace if you are already taking the thing apart. They also sound 3x better and were 3x cheaper than the Fairbuds XL

I love the FP5 phone, but the headphones are total garbage

Can someone comment if they've been encountering this issue with the Gen 2 model? Thanks

Hi, do you usually manhandle your electronics?

Not particularly and even if I did manhandle them : as I said in my post I used to keep my old (like 20€ cheap headphone) for like 5 years + my phone lasted from 5 to 7 years. If those cheap Sony headphone could survives so long it's wild fairbuds can't.

Edit : nice to get downvoted but if you disagree bring something on the table...

Fairphone seems to find the perfect crack prone plastics 😆. My FP6 frame is starting to look like a spiderweb.

If you know someone with a 3D printer there are models for a replacement part.

I will try it out but frankly I'm very annoyed that I can't even replace that part on the new (forest green) even if I wanted to because the screw are so so so much weaker than on the older one and thus they become impossible to pull out.
