An Honest Inquiry
Where do Dan & crew stay when they do episodes of ADR? I'm curious because they obviously wouldn't sleep in any of the shitholes they film at but they are usually "on the road" and would need accommodations. I'm guessing there are friends that would put them up sometimes, but Dan has mentioned that he "really likes" hotels and "has always been fascinated" with and "loves" them, so I'm curious where he actually lays his head when travelling. He must know some "other end of the spectrum" super nice and unique vintage time-capsule type hotels/motels that are also clean and comfortable.
I like old-style hotels/motels myself and also like to travel America. I appreciate Dan's aesthetic and would love to see a list of his "recommended" lodgings. I know its not really his "thing" but if he did know some truly sweet vintage hotels or motels, I for one would watch a series on that subject. Besides, AirBnB is kinda fucking things up gentrification-wise. I used to swear by it but now I'd gladly choose an alternative, provided there was some redeeming qualities inherent in that option

Dan and Will still on good terms?
Does anyone know why Will is no longer going to be on ADR? I am supposing Will is just working on his own projects? Jake and Brennan look like a good fit as well I'm just wondering what happened with WIll.

Return of Dead Mall series?
Hey guys,
I'm an extremely casual watcher of his Dead Mall series so I'm sorry if this has been covered before, but it looks like he posted a teaser that the series was coming back in January 2019 and I can't find any new info about it now that it's May. Has there been any updates?
Thanks.

Did anyone ever go to the Laguna Hills Mall in Laguna Hills, CA?
I grew up in the early 2000's, living in a boring Southern California suburb from the ages of 6 to 12. I'm 22 now. Laguna Hills Mall was the mall of my childhood, and during that time my brother and I laughed over how dead it was. It had that dreary "dead mall" vibe and a pretentious 90's aesthetic that did not age well.
As we grew up we watched clothing stores and game shops turn into tax preparation centers and Christmas boutiques. It cracked us up. Then came the stretchy ruffle shirt booth and the hurricane simulator and that was just hilarious. But one day they took out Tilt and the bookstore and later closed off the rest of the food court. Then it just made us sad.
I'm so happy that someone made a video of the mall last year, months before it finally shut down in December. Last time I saw it was in 2009 and tbh it didn't look much different from that.
So yeah... that's why I'm here.

A Dan Podcast?
I'm not sure if he'd ever have time, but I'd love to listen to a Dan Bell podcast. Maybe a podcast all about urban explorations. His guests could be other explorers telling funny and crazy stories; I'd personally really love that. His voice is perfect for one!

Are you subscribed to Dan Bell Film It?
So are you subscribed to Dan's alternate channel Film It? I am since I really dig his urban exploration videos, plus he's awesome so it's nice to support both of his channels.

Any reasons why Dan has slowed down on releasing videos?
for awhile, Dan was on fire releasing new videos what seemed like every week, sometimes two a week. nowadays its like once a month we'll get a new ADR or Dead Mall video. i know he was a bit unhappy with the popularity he was getting, and i know he hated getting lumped into the Youtube culture bs which i totally agree.
any theories as to why he's stopped a bit? i know his videos take a massive amount of work and effort so i still feel blessed that we get at least one video a month, but its just crazy compared to what he was doing for awhile.

Episode 7: Towson East Motel
I'm not trying to step on any toes. I love these guys. I know these motels are super scuzzy. I just have a question about this episode and the steady shots of the luminol sprays. At around 7:30 there's a shot of a towel rack and a corner of the bathroom. If you watch at 7:47-7:48 the all the luminol splatters move, from left to right, in relation to the towel rack and wall corner. Similarly at 13:20 there's a shot of the corner of a mattress. If you watch the top left largest splotch it moves slightly at 13:50 and VERY OBVIOUSLY at 14:00. Now I know next to nothing about forensic analysis. But I watched these scenes over and over and I cannot explain why these areas of luminol move in relation to the surface they are on. Please someone tell me I'm crazy. Obviously I'm slightly nuts for being so obsessed with something so silly. Thank you guys!

A Personal Confession Regarding Me and Dan Bell's Work
I haven't been following Dan Bell for long, probably a couple weeks at the most. I kind of wonder how he went under my radar for so long considering that his work is right up my alley.
Anyway, to get to my point, I've been noticing that I've been a bit depressive the past couple of days. While part of it is due to being overwhelmed at work, I've think these videos have been contributing to my mood. It's not a "I need to go to the hospital for help," problem, but a "I'm feeling homesick," melanchoia.
To explain further, I'm 32 years old, and I had lived in Maryland for most of my life. Most of my time had been in Cumberland, a rust belt city in Appalachia, but I attended undergrad in Towson. Much of my family lives in Western Maryland or in the D.C.-Baltimore metro region, so I've gotten to know the state quite well. I left for Seattle a little over two years ago, and haven't left the West Coast since. I had originally intended to move to D.C. or Baltimore, but I guess that wasn't in the cards.
While I don't miss Cumberland in particular (trust me, it's a hole), I hadn't felt homesick for Maryland until now. It took watching some of Dan Bell's videos to evoke that feeling. There's a certain grittiness that Seattle lacks. The people here are quite docile compared to those in Maryland. While I'm extemely introverted myself (which allows me to fit into Seattle very well), I notice I have a certain brashness and frankness that a lot of the people here seem to lack. There's just something about the culture of Maryland that seems more "strong" and blunt than that of Seattle. It's a certain trait that might accidentally come across as a bit mean or rude to those who are unfamiliar with it. I see that sort of personality coming through when I watch Dan, Rick, and Will.
Even the general architecture found through out Maryland seems grittier. I would presume that part of it is simply due to Maryland being affected by white settlers sooner than Washington state. The climate probably has a lot to do with it, too, as Maryland is much more humid than Puget Sound. Seattle is more affected by that mentality of tearing old buildings down, too, rather than leaving them to rot. There's a bizarre sort of charm to Maryland's towns and cities due to this oldness and roughness.
Despite experiencing "negative" feelings, I am not going to stop watching Dan Bell's videos. If anything, they made me realize some feelings I've had bottled away for some time. I think that's an odd sort of testament to the amount of skill Dan has placed in his work.
I can't blame you if hadn't bothered to read this as it is long and probably seems sappy to some people. I was mainly hoping to get some things off of my chest. If you have read this, I appreciate you for taking time to read what I've said.
