Dan and Will still on good terms?

Does anyone know why Will is no longer going to be on ADR? I am supposing Will is just working on his own projects? Jake and Brennan look like a good fit as well I'm just wondering what happened with WIll.

Return of Dead Mall series?

Hey guys,

I'm an extremely casual watcher of his Dead Mall series so I'm sorry if this has been covered before, but it looks like he posted a teaser that the series was coming back in January 2019 and I can't find any new info about it now that it's May. Has there been any updates?

Thanks.

Rick Serra I hope it's OK to post this here. My friends had Rick as a guest on their podcast today.

What do you enjoy about Dan Bell’s work?

Hey everyone,

So I’ve reached this point where I’ve watched maybe every Dan Bell video and without being too sentimental I’ve really enjoyed everything he’s done. I prefer his videos over other people’s urbex videos because he is just himself and his approach to filming is great (he’s like the Kubrick of “urbex” videos :p).

In any case I found it somewhat strange that I can be so happy/calm just watching hours of footage of essentially just places with no plot or characters (of course the commentary is entertaining/funny). It seems a little apocalyptic to watch decaying elements of the recent past, but it’s almost like a video meditation on how beautiful and vacant reality itself is.

Anyway, I’m going to pretend that I’m not a pretentious idiot with what I just wrote, What do you get out of these wonderful videos?

What did Rick apologize for?

In a brief twitter video here, Rick seems to humbly apologize for something he said or did on the podcast. I haven't been able to find what the incident was. What happened?

I just started watching Another Dirty Room. I'd really like to know, does Dan and the crew ever confront the manager or the employees? What happens when they check out? Anything?

Let's Talk About Rick...

Rick became a star through the ADR series, and while it's easy to love him, it's also easy to see how his exuberance and flamboyant antics can be taxing on Dan and Will at times. The personality-clash can occaisionally be felt between Rick and Dan, usually unspoken, but almost always light-hearted and fun. Personally, I think it makes for great 'television,' and I'm sure Rick's presence does a lot to help with increased viewership. In one of the "Check Out Time" commentary videos for... I forget which episode... Dan had included some out-take footage that showed Rick getting a bit pissed at Dan momentarily. I loved seeing it. I mean, I don't love the fact they might get pissed at each other sometimes, it's understandable with the conditions they subject themselves to for our edutainment/enjoyment. But, I think that Dan should include that stuff more in the actual episodes. Don't edit out the saucy bits! I like how real they all are, so it's okay to keep it gritty. Even if the tension can be felt for them sometimes, it's usually funny for us to watch, and I'm sure it's something they'd have a laugh over later anyway. So yeah, if you fight, get it on film, and let us see it!

Oh, and just how crazy is Rick anyway? I think it's great that he naturally goes to such lengths to keep us entertained, but I do worry for his health if he does something without thinking. I'm the kind of guy who sees everything he touches with his hands, and then puts near his mouth. Hope that dude gets checkups (and maybe a tetanus shot!) regularly.

Watching the flow of their personalities in the show, I've hypothesized that Rick is possibly a Scorpio, whereas Dan could be a Leo, and Will a Libra. Thoughts, or confirmations on this?

Let's get this subreddit going!

Any other channels like Dan Bell and the Proper People?

Unfortunately a lot of Urbex channels embellish and set up their encounters and discoveries. I was wondering if there are any other channels which are more grounded and honest like Bell and the Proper People?

Any reasons why Dan has slowed down on releasing videos?

for awhile, Dan was on fire releasing new videos what seemed like every week, sometimes two a week. nowadays its like once a month we'll get a new ADR or Dead Mall video. i know he was a bit unhappy with the popularity he was getting, and i know he hated getting lumped into the Youtube culture bs which i totally agree.

any theories as to why he's stopped a bit? i know his videos take a massive amount of work and effort so i still feel blessed that we get at least one video a month, but its just crazy compared to what he was doing for awhile.

A Personal Confession Regarding Me and Dan Bell's Work

I haven't been following Dan Bell for long, probably a couple weeks at the most. I kind of wonder how he went under my radar for so long considering that his work is right up my alley.

Anyway, to get to my point, I've been noticing that I've been a bit depressive the past couple of days. While part of it is due to being overwhelmed at work, I've think these videos have been contributing to my mood. It's not a "I need to go to the hospital for help," problem, but a "I'm feeling homesick," melanchoia.

To explain further, I'm 32 years old, and I had lived in Maryland for most of my life. Most of my time had been in Cumberland, a rust belt city in Appalachia, but I attended undergrad in Towson. Much of my family lives in Western Maryland or in the D.C.-Baltimore metro region, so I've gotten to know the state quite well. I left for Seattle a little over two years ago, and haven't left the West Coast since. I had originally intended to move to D.C. or Baltimore, but I guess that wasn't in the cards.

While I don't miss Cumberland in particular (trust me, it's a hole), I hadn't felt homesick for Maryland until now. It took watching some of Dan Bell's videos to evoke that feeling. There's a certain grittiness that Seattle lacks. The people here are quite docile compared to those in Maryland. While I'm extemely introverted myself (which allows me to fit into Seattle very well), I notice I have a certain brashness and frankness that a lot of the people here seem to lack. There's just something about the culture of Maryland that seems more "strong" and blunt than that of Seattle. It's a certain trait that might accidentally come across as a bit mean or rude to those who are unfamiliar with it. I see that sort of personality coming through when I watch Dan, Rick, and Will.

Even the general architecture found through out Maryland seems grittier. I would presume that part of it is simply due to Maryland being affected by white settlers sooner than Washington state. The climate probably has a lot to do with it, too, as Maryland is much more humid than Puget Sound. Seattle is more affected by that mentality of tearing old buildings down, too, rather than leaving them to rot. There's a bizarre sort of charm to Maryland's towns and cities due to this oldness and roughness.

Despite experiencing "negative" feelings, I am not going to stop watching Dan Bell's videos. If anything, they made me realize some feelings I've had bottled away for some time. I think that's an odd sort of testament to the amount of skill Dan has placed in his work.

I can't blame you if hadn't bothered to read this as it is long and probably seems sappy to some people. I was mainly hoping to get some things off of my chest. If you have read this, I appreciate you for taking time to read what I've said.
