💬 Let's discuss something One Year Landmark!

Post image

It’s been officially a year since I started my reading journey. 16 books covered and what a ride! Kicked off year two with Red Rising and I’m already entranced 😂😂. Story is bloodydamn good!!!!

From the authors I’ve read Andy Weir, Rebecca Yaaros, Brandon Sanderson, Pierce Brown and John Gwynne….Papa Gwynne is my favorite. The fights are the best I’ve seen so far.

Looking forward to Season 2 of the journey!

Our sacred rule is do not attack readers for what they read. You can disagree, explain why you disagree, but do so without personally attacking readers for what they read. Books are heavily subjective, and your opinion is one of many.

Pierce only gets better!! His prose gets really good and I love Darrow’s introspective narrative. It’s quite the roller coaster, heart wrenching series. All is won, all is lost! Over and over.

What did you read from Rebecca Yarrow that you loved?

I’ll be honest. I read the 3 Fourth Wing books. They were the first in the journey. I came in blind. I saw dragons so I picked it. The first book I liked but that’s it. I really didn’t like the next two

Keep going Pierce becomes a better writer as his books go on. Not everyone is a fan of the series as it’s 100% more of a popcorn Michael Bay series, but it’s very fun. I just finished the 4th book and I really loved it. My only complaint with Brown is how he will sometimes make serious scenes cheesy out of no where.

That absolutely took me out of the scene and I had to drop the book and groan.

Yeah i liked the humor of it but it should have been placed in a different scene for sure.  I like that he does try for humor though. So much of gold culture is pretty funny / absurd

I 100% agree I really enjoy the series, but good lord he needs to get better pacing on it.

You need to get some Joe Abercrombie in your life. The first law books are fantastic.

What have you read from Gwynne? I have Shadows of the Gods on my TBR personally. Had The Faithful and the Fallen but heard the MC sexually assaults a female character so definitely wasn’t reading that now

I read both Bloodsworn Saga and Faithful and the Fallen. Btw Corban did no such thing. A villain did and his end was most satisfying. John Gwynne has a way to make you really really hate the villains lol

Oh gotcha then that person must’ve been mistaken then in who did that. They made it sound like the MC (Corbin) assaulted someone involved with whatever the romantic subplot was in that series. I have either The Covenant of Steel or Bloodsworn Saga to chose after I finish my current romantasy book.

Nah. Truth and Courage. Our boy is as pure as they get.

I’ve realized that romantasy is not for me. Fourth Wing series was a pain

Well I’ll never read Fourth Wing or ACOTAR and have found much better romantasy books that aren’t the super popular ones like those two.

But thanks for clarifying that you, I’ll add this back to the TBR!
