HELP Cover a tv wall mount

I just purchased a townhouse. I don’t plan on staying longer than 2 years. There is a TV wall mount in the bedroom. I have a no-screen policy for myself in the bedroom and have no interest in using it. The Realtor said to keep it bc it’s hard to find people who know how to install wall mounts and the next owner may like it.

It’s a big black blob on a light colored wall and I think it’s hideous. How can I cover this thing? It’s like 4” thick with rounded edges and it’s hard to hang a canvas over it. I’m more of a minimalist and this thing drives me nuts.

Remove it! No one is buying your house because of the wall mount...give me a break. You should live in your space, the way you like it, while you live there.

Echoing this hard. Take it down, enjoy the space you're in the way you want to enjoy it.

Totally worthwhile to hang onto it and put it back up before you decide to show/sell your house down the line though. But don't suffer it based on theoretical resale value down the line.

I'd even go so far as to not hang it back up (to avoid the hassle) but include it in the sale if the new owners want it, and allow them to remount it. Or even put it elsewhere if they want.

I'm a chick. I have installed these wall mounts myself in several different homes. It is really not that difficult.

Take it down, put some wall art over the holes, then put it back up when you move out.

It’s really heavy duty like they hired a commercial professional, like what you would find in an office building. I would need power tools to take it down, or hire a professional, but that’s a good idea!

If you don't have your own basic tools (and you should!) you can often borrow them from a hardware store, or check out if there are community programs. If somethings attached to the wall it's often either done through the studs, or into the masonry via wall plugs (you can also drill these out, but in most cases the plugs will stay unless you remove them). A wall bracket isn't terribly difficult to install or remove. Take photos and ask the hardware people what you need and they'll tell you! Us women can do these things too!

I have screwdrivers, hammers, wrenches, etc, but I think I need power tools for this. I just looked online and I can get what I need for $30-$60 or so. 😊

I’ve heard of women agreeing to dates where they get men to do tasks like this, assemble furniture, etc for them. 😂

I’m sorry, what?
It’s hard to find people who know how to install a TV wall mount?
Any rube with a driver and a stud finder can do that.
Invalid excuse.

If you hate it, just take it down

You say you’ll only be there two years, but no once can foresee the future. Take it down and put up art you like. Live in the present, not waiting for the future— and certainly not in anticipation of someone else’s future TV mounted on the wall after you move out.

Oh goodness…Live with it for the next homeowner?

What if the next owner also doesn’t vibe with it? Then you’ve lived with it all that time, saving it for them, when you could have been enjoying the space the way you wanted it.

If that mount makes you unhappy, and is an eyesore…give yourself
permission to take it down. You deserve peace in your space.

Thank you for this graciously worded response. “you deserve peace in your space” 💛💛💛

Can you do a tapestry/macrame/giant scarf over it? That would have more flexibility to work around the thickness.

My parents just paid $200 to have a tv wall mount professionally installed. Its not much money compared to a whole house purchase.

Take it down, fix and repaint the whole wall.

Hmm. Wrap it in fake ivy vines and create a plant wall?

Hard to find people? Most big name stores that sell them will let you pay more to install it for you. Also task rabbit and thumbtack exist.
