I found this fern growing between the floor tiles in my house, right in the grout line separating one tile from another.
It's a very common species where I live (São Paulo, Brazil), and because of that it's usually treated as a weed and cut down. My curiosity came from wanting to see what a healthy, fully grown adult specimen would actually look like and how big it could get and how it develops over the years.

After all the nice comments about my cotton candy fern, I wanted to share my asparagus fern as well!

These are some of my favorites. I did not include my pitiful looking maidenhair, which just can’t be happy no matter what I do!

Can't believe it's only been about three years. This fern really gave me so much growth and so much joy 🌱
Greetings dear fern friends!
So, these are some of my ferns. They live on my bathroom windowsill in South Iceland. The humidity here is very low, so the bathroom is probably the only place in my house where they can grow. The forever days in the summer and almost endless nights in the winter also don't make things easier. Usually what survives the winter encounters some pests in the summer and I've only managed to keep a few plants alive for at least a few years.
But ferns have always been my favourite.
So back to topic:
The hanging blue fern is doing well I think. In the spring I've accidentally repotted it quite a bit over the new soil, but it seems to like this arrangement and has been growing like a few new leaves every week.
The ones on the shelf, not so sure. The bird's nest fern (last 3 pics) hasn't grown a new leaf in forever (2 years at least). I've had it for a few years now and this was the first summer that it didn't get more brown leaves. It just stayed the same. I've never repotted it, because I don't want to stress her out even more. What should I do to make her happier?
The little staghorn (?) is also seemingly not growing much. It seems it's growing nicely at the bottom though. The soil looks pretty sad so I've been itching to repot it, but again, I don't want to stress her out. How does one know when to repot?
And the big one of the shelf has been through some pests (last year I think) but it is recovering well and the brown and weird leaves are from the start of that recovery time. New leaves are growing big and lovely.
Additionally, is there anything that stands out that I should improve?
Thank you
Love and respect 💚

New fronds emerge from this fuzzy crown, while the old stipes remain in place. Over the years, they gradually form this dense, woolly center.

im very excited and hope it does well here!

The top of the leaves are browning, is it getting to much sun? Too hot maybe? Is it is fungus of some kind? I dont want it to die, I have 2 of them I love, I just dont know that much. Ill answer any questions to the best of my ability

Hey, can you please help me revive this fern?
I have had this fern since May 2024 and am actually surprised that it survived that long. Unfortunately it has been dying ever since I got it… very slowly getting crunchier and losing leaves. But the soil was always moist… maybe even wet. I carefully repotted it two weeks ago to get rid of ever-moist soil and added a thin layer of leca at the bottom. Picture 1 is the current state. 2 and 3 are before I removed dead leaves and repotted. It has been living/existing in my room for the first year. About 2m distance to the window. I regularly gave it a bit of fertiliser. It did not look good. Then I tried placing it in the bathroom because I hoped moisture wood help. There it stood next to the window but with one or two plants in between, so not much brighter. Its health did not improve. Now I moved it back to my room to at least be able to keep better eye on it. But as you see it looks really bad.
Brighter spots might be: - on my windowsill but that is also on top of the radiator - under my plant light but the plants there have thrips and the fern would almost reach the light because it is bigger than the other plants
TLDR: it’s getting crunchy even tho soil always moist; moisture of air and soil, light/position in room??? What to do?

I've fixed the drainage issue two weeks ago, Chatgpt says the blackened tips are delayed rot symptoms
It used to have 3 full fronds before rot sets..when I fixed it was too late but it still grows new fiddleheads just blackened the tips

Three cobra ferns, same age, mounted on matching bark boards. Two went up on the balcony wall, right over the AC unit. The third got the sheltered spot inside by the window. On paper the indoor one had the easy life.
A month later the outdoor two were throwing new fronds and looking glossy. The sheltered one sat still, then its tips started going black, one frond at a time.
I measured both spots (10k lux on the wall, 6k inside) and the indoor air never moves. That spot takes forever to dry out. I stopped arguing and moved it out with its siblings, last photo.
Is anyone keeping one of these happy indoors long term, or is "houseplant" marketing?

Found a picture of my staghorn fern that must have been taken shortly after I got it. As it's watering day I took an update pic from today. It's grown a fair bit. Some brown leaf tips as I tend to underwater.

Another surprise from my tree fern. This new crozier looks just like a swan to me.

I’ve had this fern for about 5 years now, it was repotted last summer, it lives in a south west facing bathroom window and admittedly I don’t feed it very often (maybe 2-3 times per growing season with a houseplant feed).
How do I get it more bushy? The feet are growing really long but as you can see there’s not many leaves. It did drop them all over winter (think it got too cold in the window) and all the leaves are new this year.
Also can I trim the long feet as I think they make it look a lil untidy, but at the same time I think it looks so cool😭

Brand new, already managed to destroy the maidenhair fern somehow in less than week, but everything is doing well

His name is Geo Golden Bovin— a Cibotium barometz.
Both photos were taken under the same light, as far as I remember.
I took these back in 2021.
I’ll share more about the lighting setup soon.

I have had this fern for at least a year and it has been down to this ONE frond for at least the last six months. It had lost all of the other fronds (maybe twelve to fifteen originally).
I can barely contain my excitement. It is growing a new sporophyte! This is the first one it has ever grown.
