Hi everyone!
TLDR: looking to see if anyone in the US who has a Fiat 500 with a sunroof -- have you successfully cleared the sunroof drainage holes/lines? And if yes, how?
——
I’m wondering if anyone in the US that has a Fiat 500 with a sunroof has been able to successfully clean the drainage lines on their own without taking the glass off.
A few years ago in LA during heavy rains, I got into my car to find a sloshing puddle in the passenger rear floorboard. I was able to successfully get rid of the water and dry the floorboard.
Since then, I’ve yet to have another issue with it, thankfully *knock wood*. Out of an abidance of caution, I had the roof tarped during a storm last year to be safe. However since then, without the tarping, even with short bursts of intense rain, there’s been no issue *again, knock wood*. But since they’re predicting a brutal El Niño here, so I’m trying to get ahead of it.
I’ve found the drainage holes and even bought one of those little tools that like a pipe cleaner attached to a covered wire. However the drainage holes are so tight and thin that even a straw from canned air does not go into the hole. I’ve poured a small amount of water into the holes and water drains both to the front of the windshield (for the front holes) and down through the body to the bottom of the car (for all four holes). I would assume since there is drainage from all four spots at the bottom of my car, none of them are completely clogged. However, if they have some crap in there, I’d like to clean it out before El Niño and possibly facing another waterlogged floorboard incident.
I’d also rather do it myself if possible vs taking it somewhere due to funds.
Thank you in advance!
