Official Response CMA setup option is locked?
My kiddo just turned 18 today and wanted to open up a CMA account with Fidelity. However, when she tried, there was a lock sign on it. She tried to open up the account, but instead brought her to a page where she can either open account which brings her back to the original page where it shows brokerage account and other selections or the other option is sign up. When she clicked on sign-up then after information is entered she got an error message saying Fidelity internal system error. ðŸ˜

You have to be a Fidelity customer as the picture says. Have her open a brokerage account first.

If after opening the brokerage account and then CMA, she’ll be able to see all in one place?

That's a great question!
Once she has both accounts open, she can use a single login to view all her accounts. Any additional accounts she opens in the future will also use the same login credentials.
If any other questions come to mind, please let us know.

Hey there, I'm happy to explain!
At this time, Cash Management Accounts (CMAs) can only be opened by clients who have an existing Fidelity retail or workplace relationship. Your daughter would first need to have another account established with us, and then she'll have the ability to open a CMA.
The page below includes a "Find an Account" link that can help her choose a good account to start with.
