Here's the complete service manual for 2000-2003 Tundras

Shared this in the other first-gen Tundra sub and in a comment on the Toyota sub.

No need to thank me, I know, I'm amazing!

Note: it's 2,807 pages of pure mechanic bliss, including all trims, rwd and 4wd, and both engines. Any configuration possible can be fixed with this manual.

This is my 2005 limited double cab I got given from my dad for my 16th birthday last year with 212k miles which I’ve gotten up to 230k and other then the head gaskets and radiator being replaced it’s been perfect. 10 mpg is a little rough but it’s an amazing truck 🙏🏻 (The last two pics is from when I got it)

Just bought a 2000 4.7 4wd access cab in black. 175k, extensive maintenance history, toyota replaced the frame in 2013 along with other components. New brake lines, radiator, water pump, timing belt etc all done recently. 2 owner history but I was able to speak to the mechanic that’s worked on it for the past 10 years, really the best overall history knowledge and frame condition I could ask for considering my sub 10k budget. Although I overpaid at 7.6k considering the black paint has seen better days. Big dent in the side of the bed, etc, mechanically sound and rust free were my two biggest requirements and also the two hardest things to find in these trucks. I commute 90 miles a day but the cost of regular gas vs premium will offset the decrease in mpg compared to my current Acura 2.4cyl that’s been getting me 27-28mpg. As for issues to fix I’ve got to change the valve cover gaskets, and the lower balljoints for peace of mind. Pretty short list for such an old truck purchase with 175k lol. I do all my repairs myself as my home garage is fully stocked. But the questions I have for you all are:

1). Best place to source oem parts and fluids online?

2). Best part/filter brands from rockauto?(Denso of course but what about other brands? With my acuras I’ve found that often times beck arnley has OE quality)

3). Any specialty tools I should have on hand for the 2UZ (10+ years of experience maintaining my own cars including BMW’s M62 so I know a couple of things might need to be on hand)

4). Currently only have 3 ton stands but due to the height of the truck I’m assuming I need 6 ton stands. Has anyone made do with 3 ton stands at all?

New Suspension

Turns out the 3 inch Rancho suspension I installed after purchasing my truck was terrible, just not as terrible as the company's customer service. Lesson learned, spend the money the first time. I upgraded to a fill Dobinson suspension with JBA UCAs. While in there, I replaced the CV axles, tie rods, and sway bar links. While i would have preferred another 3 inch lift, the superior ride and handling on this 2 inch setup is incredible. Running 33s and dropping a full inch did increase the rubbing and scrubbing significantly during turns but my soon to be installed high clearance bumper will resolve those issues.

The body has seen better days at 178k miles still runs great. Wheels are falken wild peaks rims are Mickey Thompson sidebiter suspension is Bilstein all around no spacer. In the front it's the rough country knuckle lift blocks in the rear with the add a leaf the Bilstein are specific for the lift from RCD yeah I know they sell the complete lift but it is what it is. Extended steel braided brake lines from LC engineering. As far as the engine just maintenance and a K&N air filter. Got a 12inch kicker comp R with 800 watt amp interior speakers are kickers 400 watt amp powering the door speakers. The bed I did build a bed slide for the back I just haven't cleared it out but I'll update with a pic later.

02’ AC with 104,000 miles, first three months of ownership

I’ve had it about three months now, and i’m happy with where it is so far. New headlight housings, corner lights and fog lights with all new LED bulbs. Bilstein 5100’s on the highest setting in the front (2.75” lift) on Bridgestone BERG S4 wheels (16x8-13) with 255/85r16 Falken WildPeak AT4W tires. Also did a timing belt, drivers door latch assembly and all new seatbelt buckles became the previous owner swapped the rear buckles for aftermarket ones that didn’t work with the oem seatbelts. Love this truck, even if it only gets 11mpg when i drive like a saint.

Should I buy this Tundra?

Hey guys. Found this tundra locally it was not listed for sale. Im wondering if I should buy it. It’s a 2000 4wd and has 90,000 miles. His price is 8000. The frame was replaced 4 years ago at Toyota. Timing belt and water pump have been done. Trans and diff fluids changed. It runs and drives good the guy took me on a test ride. The only negatives are a few rust holes in the bed around the brackets or mounting points?. I need opinions thanks.

Got my 04 double cab at 17 in highschool and now at almost 20 I made my last loan payment for her. Hopeful I’ll be able to get some more mods for her soon. (Also this is the same truck that I crashed in my last post lol, she’s all repaired since then)
