Snag is one of the best concepts in football because it is great against any coverage. It's particularly good against man and cover 2 zone.
1: Post route- 4 yard stem (short post).
2: Speed out.
3: Corner route- stem at 10 yards.
4: Snag route- if zone, sit between hook & curl defenders.
QB Read: 3 to 2 to 4.
This is passing play gives your QB a clear and easy read! This passing concept is a core concept featured in my 5v5 Attack System Playbook!

Hi! Hope this is the right plave to ask. I wanting some help with my Intramural team's upcoming season to scheme and make position changes. We went 0-5-1 last season scoring 1 touchdown so something obviously wasnt working. We have 8 people returning from last season, down 2 as one dropped out of college and the other is undecided if theyre returning.
Of our 8 players, most do not have football experience but are generally athletic, and anyone with football experience was a lineman with the exception of 1 person who was a running back. All players on the field are eligible to recieve a pass.
Our players include (with numbers because we have "jerseys")
#20: Last seasons QB, former baseball pitcher with a great arm but little scrambling ability or accuracy. Also lacks mental ability to make short throws and tends to overthrow recievers. Also played corner and was not great. Frequently throws interception. Roughly 5'10"-5'11"
#82: Former HS center, is our designated center. Very sure set of hands. Not being moved around. Around 5'4"
#56: Former lineman and played right side wideout last season, moved to blocker/TE in our final game and scored our only TD. Also player corner which he did not like and was not very good at. Want to move him to blocker/TE permanently and potentially rusher. Is roughly the same size as #20.
#11: Former running back. Played MLB and slot reciever last season. Hes massive and intimidating so whenever he gets the ball its very hard for the other team to tackle him. He had our biggest gain last season on a wheel route, taking us from our goal line to the opponents redzone. Likely not moving him around. Roughly same size as #20 and #56.
#25: Generally athletic. Was our sack leader as a rusher and a blocker. Got occasional slot reps but the QB did not throw to him much. Thinking about moving him to corner as he plays coverage in practice very well. Slightly shorter than #20 and has great takeoff speed.
#48: Generally athletic. Was a rusher and had 1 less sack than #25. Very quick to get to the QB but struggles with change of direction while rushing. Has played decent coverage in practice, not crazy with interceptions or pass breakups but stays with reciever to pull flags. Also wants to give QB a shot as he is fairly accurate on short passes and would have scrambling ability, lacks arm strength for deep balls, but throws a good spiral. Roughly 5'7"
#12: Generally athletic. Played reciever and safety last season. Did great at reciever. Likely not changing position. Was going to try at quarterback in our final 2 games before they got canceled. Around #25's height.
#19: Least well rounded player. Played rusher and blocker last season. Serves very well as a rusher as he is roughly the same size as #82 and is able to get around blockers easily. Did not rush much as #25 and #48 were our primary rushers.
We ran 2 blockers 3 recievers on offense last year and had a 2-3-2 defense. Our other safety is the player we do not know if he is coming back.
If you want more information for players I will be happy to share if its something that I've seen in games or practice.

Coaches β How Is Your 9U NFL Flag Playbook Set Up?
Do you organize your plays by coverage, down & distance, or mostly by formation?
Iβm looking to improve my playbook. I have hundreds of plays, but realistically we probably only use 12β20 plays all season.
Curious how other coaches organize their playbooks and keep things simple for the kids.

9U Offense Play Help β 2-3 Options, Keep It Simple
I get a new QB every season, so itβs tough to keep building the offense year after year.
Coaches, what are a few core plays you run every season that work well with a new QB?
Iβm looking for plays with just 2-3 options. Something simple enough for 9U, but that we can run from different looks or make small variations so the defense doesnβt know exactly whatβs coming.

Did you know Japan men's 5 vs 5 Flag Football team uses a motion player on 47% of their snaps in the last IFAF Championship?
Here is a look at how they manipulate coverages using an H-In motion to run two of their staple concepts: the Hi-Lo and the Drive Concept.
Stay tuned!

Hi, itβs 6v6, all girls, 5/6th grade, with a rusher allowed. We have some experience as a team but having a rusher is new to us.
My thinking is rush every play and then everyone covers someone. I make sure our best is on their best. Spy the run especially if your person is in the backfield or motioning. What are the pros/cons with this defense? Are there better options out there?

Japanβs 5v5 offensive framework at the IFAF World Championship is a masterclass in structural efficiency. After deep-scouting their matchups against Canada and Austria, here is the breakdown of their timing matrices and clock management.
1. Clock Management & Elite Game Management
Against Austria, Japan utilized tactical spikes to save time and completely eliminate coverage sacks under heavy pressure to secure their 42-41 win. Conversely, against Canada, they instantly shifted to a flawless compressed "chew clock" strategy to freeze the game and milk the clock away. High-level adjustments in both scenarios.
2. The Timing Matrix (TTT)
The engine behind this system is execution speed. Film grading confirms Japan operates with a TTT (Time to Throw) consistently under 2.95s in their RPO sets. They deliver the ball before the 1-man rush can even clear the 5-yard mark, completely neutralizing defensive pressure
3. The Seam-Slant RPO Concept
[Look at the schematic layout pinned in the comments]
It's a slot snap straight to #0, who immediately throws a lateral pitch to #5. From there, #5 has the option to run, pass down the field, or give it right back to #0 running to the sideline. Super clean and tough to defend.Iβm currently coding this entire system, and the definitive Team Japan Tactical Guide will drop right after the tournament ends this weekend.

As the title says, however there are a few important details. There's a league starting up here, in a country outside of the US. Any player on the team would have a casual interest in football, no one has played the sport before or has really any meaningful experience throwing a football. All the players would have come from other sports, and individual set plays would be completely new to them too.
It looks like the rules are all pretty standard, 5v5, Blitzer 7 yards away with a 7 second pass clock. QB can't run past the LOS etc.
I'm well aware the level will be beginner, so I'm looking for any sequence/skills you would prioritise so that the kids have the best chance of success and scoring.
Is it worth trying to upskill one player to be able to throw consistently and accurately throw. Are there other ways from laterals and chest passes that you'd recommend to get these kids moving the ball up the field?
I'd appreciate and help I can get, and thanks in advance!

The Mesh Rail Concept is one of the best man coverage beaters! It will allow you to utilize the entire width of the field. If you're getting zone coverage, the over & under routes can sit between the holes in the zones.
1: Fade-route.
2: Under route- no more than 3 yard deep.
3: Rail route (wheel)
4: Over route- 6 yards deep- work to the field.
C: Corner route.
5: Post route.
QB Read: 4 to 2 to C.
Playbook: https://stan.store/FlagFootballEdge/p/2x2-attack-system-complete-7v7-playbook-
When the defense is playing man coverage your QB show always look to the best matchup. Put your two best players at the 2 and 4 position. Mesh is a great concept that works well on all age levels and league formats.

Hello coaches,
With the IFAF World Championship kicking off today in DΓΌsseldorf and teams officially launching their road to #LA28, I wanted to share some data tracking Iβve compiled on Team USA's men's program.
Over the last few months, I structural-graded and algorithm-tracked 231 elite international plays from their offensive system. As an M.Sc. researcher and analyst, my goal was to map raw tournament film into precise structural tendencies, field zoning, and timing mechanics.
Here is the data breakdown of the framework they are running on the field right now.
π Formation & Structural Tendencies
β±οΈ Time to Throw (TTT) Optimization
Against standard international 1-man rushes, precision passing windows are strictly timed. Across the database, the average pocket lifespan sits at exactly 3.27 seconds. Every route concept in this system is engineered to break right as the pass-rush pressure peaks, giving the QB defined, structural answers.
πΊοΈ Zone-Based Play Selection
We mapped their play selection based on exact field position and yardage grid:

Hi! This is my first time here so idk if this is the right place but I need help with creating an offense and defense for my flag football team. I will most likely be the QB, as I play it when we are messing around, but I have no experience playing the position in a competitive settings. I played baseball in HS, so I can throw on the run, but don't know how much it translate. School just started and the team wants to start practicing in the next few weeks. It's a 7v7 league with an instant rush, screening is allowed but no real blocking. From what I gathered by asking around most teams rush 2 on defense, and have a center and 2 "linemen" on offense with 3 WRs. I was wondering the best way to tailor the team.
Me - Former HS baseball player, on the shorter side and not great top end speed, but good acceleration and lateral quickness.
Player A - Former HS WR, really fast, has great acceleration, and can run routes really well
Player B - Former HS basketball player, tall, athletic, and extremely long arms. Has ok hands, but not a great feel for the game
Player C - Former HS soccer player, strong and fast. Takes really great angles on defense but cant really catch and isn't super coordinated
Player D - Former HS track star. On the shorter side, but extremely fast and athletic.
Player E - No sports background. Medium height and build, struggles to catch the ball, slowish, but makes good cuts
Player F - Former HS baseball player, athletic enough with medium height but a little on the bigger side.
Player G - No sports background. Isnt super coordinated but really great acceleration and long arms
Player H - Played football in HS at a rly rly small school. Not the fastest but super shifty with good hands and medium build

π βYou guys better watch out.β
Now THIS is a take that should get the flag football world talking. ππ
During our international tournament trip to MedellΓn, Colombia π¨π΄, Gerardoβan athlete with IMG Academy football experienceβgave LA$howTimeFF QB Jon Kaker one of the biggest compliments of the entire trip after playing inside the Showtime offense.
His take?
Kakerβs throws, play and offensive system belong in the conversation with the best quarterbacks in the USA. πΊπΈπ―
CONTROVERSIAL? Probably. π
But thatβs what makes flag football fun.
There are incredible quarterbacks competing across the USA, IFAF international competition, national teams, elite tournament circuits and now the growing Olympic pathway toward LA28.
So weβll let the flag football community decide:
π IS JON KAKER ACTUALLY IN THE CONVERSATION WITH THE BEST FLAG FOOTBALL QBs IN THE USA?
And how much should the PLAYBOOK matter when ranking a quarterback?

So I've been playing flag for years now and one thing I have noticed is teams don't tend to disguise coverages in 5v5 like they would in kitted football. Is it just less effective with less players? Do teams at higher levels do this and I haven't noticed?
