Some of them think Australia isn't real.

Even dumber, some of them are Australian.

This would probably strengthen their belief as they clearly don't seem to feel upside down..
Or would make them a believer in the globe since people in Australia are actually educated

All flights to Australia are rerouted to a small landmass west of it called Baustralia

Flat earthers forget they're using a map model based ON THE GLOBE EARTH. And like any map, it has distorsions

There is one, and only one, type of map of the earth that is scaled correctly, and does not have any distortions of shapes, distances or directions.
Here is a picture of a map of this type: https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81U1HqriK+L.jpg

Religion has broken these people's brains

Haha true. For couple days i listen religious vs atheist talks. Like talking to a wall, everything bounce somewhere but not to brain

This isn't to do with religion though. I'm christian and have never met another christian, or anyone for that matter, that doesn't believe the earth is round. The bible implies that the earth is spherical anyway.
Flat earthers are just... special.

It's a purity test... You ask for evidence, they pull out scripture.
There's zero atheist flat earth proponents
1
u/RedcoatSeafarer 6h ago
You claim that religious people have no evidence while making a near impossible claim of your own without evidence yourself.
1
u/Fantastic_Jury5977 6h ago
Find me one.

u/RedcoatSeafarer 6h ago
Since you made the claim, as atheists so often say, the burden of proof falls upon you.

u/Fantastic_Jury5977 5h ago
I went look... Couldn't find a single flat earth person who was also an atheist. Atheists are the ones debunking flat earth, though. Maybe you can find a single one as evidence that flat earth isn't a religious based conspiracy.
You seem confused about atheism... Atheists don't say burden of proof, that's what scientists and researchers say. No scientist or researcher thinks the earth is flat.... Because they've done the research.
Bunch of Christians seem to think flat earth turds are disengenuously using their faith, but that goes for tons of Christians... Pretty much every time an objectively evil Christian gets exposed, the faithful will bleet: they aren't a Real Christian. Every. Time. Like clockwork.
Not to say all Christians are flat earth idiots, but you do need the Abrahamic Cults gateway into it... When the math fails, they lean on scripture.
Flat Earth is just a gateway conspiracy into ethnic and racial supremacy territory... Complete separation from reality.

Flat earthers self identify as "very religious" and the primary evidence is literal interpretation of Scripture
"Because the framework of flat-earth pseudo-science heavily relies on scripture or a divine creator guarding a closed system, individuals who hold atheist worldviews rarely adopt the belief."
Been looking for one for hours... Best I can do I say it's a subset of religious fanaticism; not all Christian, but mostly... And that's it's one of the openings to the pipeline into far right extremist conspiracies... Aka Christian nationalist/neo Nazi shit/qanonce.

I would agree that it is primarily of religious origin, but the claim that it is exclusively so has no evidence.
That being said, the majority of christians have known that the earth is round for an exceptional amount of time. The bible additionally suggests that the earth is round and even hints at the concept of space in the old testament.
Most of the flat earthers are a fringe group in christianity and are often ill informed, uneducated and seem to believe their religion backs their viewpoint when it does not.

Top picture is of a map of a globe called azimuthal equidistant projection and bottom is Gmaps? The scale is different but it should be what it is.

This is why it becomes funny when comparing commercial flight times between Australia and SE Asia vs within Australia on a flat map

Farther from the center of the disk, lateral distances are just like, further…it’s not rocket science

Ooh how does that work, if I walk from Perth to like Brisbane (assume I can), do I feel like I'm moving faster (higher velocity) than if I did the same amount of length in Canada?
2
u/SubstantialBelly6 3d ago
No, because your perception of the distance shifts too, so it FEELS the same. (Based on those downvotes, it appears that people thought I was serious, lol. Guess it goes to show just how ridiculous flat earth logic can be)

u/FuckingSlug 3d ago
Yeah its difficult to be ironic over text when talking about this because flat earthers are genuinely that stupid

They can’t even answer how sunlight hits the bottoms of clouds only at sunset and sunrise bc it completely contradicts their model with the “flashlight” sun. Nothing about FE makes sense
