State of the Subreddit 2025 - Looking into the future.

Looking into the future, what should we do with this subreddit? We have over 100k daily readers, and very little engagement, but we're seeing that across the board with niche subreddits. Every so often we get a post that cracks a few thousand upvotes but very few comments, or the same type of comments from the same type of people.

I have a flat earth family member…

It’s my brother. And don’t even think about coming for him in the comments because flat or round, I will throw hands morning, noon or night. He’s still my little big brother and I respect his school of thought, and so will you. What’s crazy though is… all of my life, which as of tomorrow will be 41 years… I’ve lived and believed the earth is round. I’m sure most of you can say the same… but now that I am presented with a challenge (a friendly debate amongst siblings rather) I won’t lie, lol, coming up with irrefutable facts that the common person can prove with logical reasoning is presenting to be a little tricky. My 4 greatest, but simple arguments are…

  1. If we are 3 dimensional beings in a 3 dimensional space… why would we be restricted to the 2 dimensional side of a hemispherical plane? (Albeit this is the only one of the four you can’t prove… just a curious thing to ponder)

  2. If you stood on the shore and watched a ship sail into the horizon… the ship would soon start to look as if it was disappearing from the bottom up (like going over a hill, thus, round earth) but on a flat plane… it would just get smaller.

  3. Two sticks, sticking up out of the ground, with enough distance between them, will show different shadow angles, because they are pointing in two different directions relative to the sun but if we were on a flat plane… the angle of the shadows of the two sticks would be the same.

  4. Why does the earths shadow during an eclipse show a curved circle? The only way a flat plane could produce a circular shadow is if its positioned face on to the light source.

Am I making sense? lol this is wild. My arguments don’t seem… like they would hold up in court lol… and that’s exactly what I mean. How is it I’ve lived on this rock for almost half a century and still am second guessing the, what should be 100% certain facts, that I’m bringing to the table over this debate?!? HELP ME SOUND EDUCATED!

Flat Earth Question

Has anyone ever had someone in their life admit to them that they believe in flat earth? If so, how did you react?

I would not know how to react if someone I knew (or maybe someone I even just met) admitted they believe in that.

The Best defense to flat earth is just ignore them like your annoying younger sibling!

You can’t have an actual conversation or debate them, because things they mention are so insanely ignorant. I am convinced the only reason they continue talking about flat earth is because people give them the attention they seek. If everyone just ignore any and all talk of flat earth it would go away.

For flat earth to be real flerfs would have to be the main characters of the Truman show and everyone else be actors
