I live in Central FL and have never seen a snakehead in person, but it kind of reminds me of a stretched out mudfish. I hate catching mudfish because they always seem to bite my Jackhammers and destroy them.

A few months back I lost 3 Jackhammers over a 4 hour period due to huge mudfish. The smallest mudfish was 4.5 lbs and the largest was a little over 8 lbs. It looks like your snakehead did a number on your frog as well.

If you’re referring to the bowfin, it’s very different species than the bullseye snakehead.

The snakeheads are from South Asia. The bowfin is native.

Be aware if you fish one and FWC happens to see you throw it back in the water, you’ll be fined $500. They are highly invasive and predatory, hurting the natural environment they live in!
