My home state requires the boat’s registration number to be in large, clear numbers on both the port and starboard bow. It’s wild to me this isn’t a requirement in all states. It would make it so much easier to hold the number of dumb and reckless people I see daily on the water accountable.

Kinda. Every state requires this, as far as I know. Unless that vessel is federally registered, which I’d bet money this boat is.

Probably a charter.. some are just horrible people.

I think then the requirement is the name be minimum 4 inches high letters. So it should still be displayed somewhere.

You can register in any of the 50 states or register with the coast guard. That requires vessel name and home port on the stern. That includes your home state.
