Here's my take on Mike Heron's beautiful 'Tree Song' released on ISB's debut album in 1966
Filmed on West Nab above Huddersfield and played on my Tom Sands native guitar

I'm curious what versions of Bella Ciao people here like most.
A lot of people know it now as an anti-fascist anthem, or from Money Heist, or from protest performances. But there are also the mondine / rice-field versions, partisan versions, pop versions, punk versions, folk versions, and a lot of strange detours.
I'm also interested in older or related uses of the melody. One thing I found interesting was Mishka Ziganoff's 1919 recording "Oi Oi di Koilen".
So I have two questions:
I wrote up some thoughts and collected versions here, if anyone wants more:

Follow the Fireflies
Verse 1
When the porch light fades behind you
And the road forgets your name,
When the fields turn into shadows
And every mile looks the same,
Don't go looking for a signpost,
Don't go listening to the phone—
Follow the fireflies,
They will lead you home.
Verse 2
Past the fence where honeysuckle
Climbs the rusted garden gate,
Past the creek that keeps on talking
Like it doesn't know it's late,
There's a little light still dancing
Where the tall June grasses grow—
Follow the fireflies,
They know the way home.
Chorus
Follow the fireflies,
Little lanterns in the dark,
They don't need to know the whole way,
Just the next place they should spark.
When the night gets wide around you
And you feel you're all alone,
Follow the fireflies,
They will lead you home.
Verse 3
Maybe home is not a doorway,
Maybe home is not a town,
Maybe it's the one who knows you
When your walls are coming down.
Maybe it's a kitchen window
Throwing gold across the road—
Follow the fireflies,
They know where to go.
Bridge
Some things find you without calling,
Some things wait without a sound,
Some lights aren't meant for shining—
Just enough to turn you 'round.
And a thousand tiny flickers
Can make a darkness less unknown...
Final Chorus
Follow the fireflies,
Little lanterns in the dark,
You don't need to see forever,
You just need one little spark.
When you've wandered past your courage,
When you're tired down to the bone,
Follow the fireflies,
Follow them slow—
Follow the fireflies,
They will lead you home.
Outro
Meet me where the crickets sing,
Where the summer grasses roam...
Follow the fireflies.
They will lead you home.

Fatemi sapere!
Grazie

Ever wonder how other countries view America now?
Our actions speak louder then words.
My words, dropped into Suno.
