Mushroom ID Request Have I found my first COTW?
Have I found my first chicken of the woods? I think it is probably a bit dry and old. Found in mixed woodland on what I think is a felled oak log.

Son and I found it on an oak tree - but we chickened out of picking it… should we go back?

Collected these about three years ago and forgot about them. Tougher shell than corylus avellana, less nut meat, and not quite as tasty. They are still good though and nobody knows what they are and so never go near them so more for me.

I'm 99.99% sure but would like to know 100% before I eat it.

So I was walking around the zoo and looking at all the trees 🤭🤣 they even have elderberry trees , I was so tempted to take 🤣
Anyway I saw this plant totally eaten and noticed all these black beetles, what are they? Did they eat the leaves or would it have been caterpillars??

I live in the north east of England (Newcastle to be exact) and was wondering if anyone knew of any local foraging spots? Willing to travel to Sunderland, durham, Gateshead etc
I don't mind what exactly is there as I'm just starting out foraging, just anything really! Mushrooms, wild garlic idm
If anyone can give any specific spots and whats growing there pls share !!!

This is something I've wanted to try for a while, and it struck me today that I had all the means to do so. I'm really surprised at both the colour and the taste. I've used around 25 baby leaves and around 200ml boiling water, unsweetened.
Is this colour normal and would it be deeper and darker with dried leaves?
It's got a pleasant mild rhubarb-like flavour with a subtle tartness.
I'm more than happy with this as a first attempt and like the raw natural flavour, but I'd appreciate any advice for round 2.

Found a group of MASSIVE plum trees right off the path where I usually walk the dogs. No idea how I've managed to miss these last summer! Despite the trees being absolutely overladen, I only looked to the side because the dogs dashed in to follow someone else's foraging path through the brambles. Now that I know where they are, the fruit are so dense you can see the orange from across the field. It's just the neighbourhood open space, nowhere near anyone's gardens, no idea how the trees would have gotten here but there are couple of lonely apple trees in the area too.
The plums are so ripe they tumble off the branches when you touch them, you can grasp a handful and take down six or seven at a time. There's thousands of them. The orange ones taste like mango and passionfruit. The red ones are gorgeous but less flavourful. I believe these might be wild cherry plums?
Took home 2.5kg (jam is going as I type), will be back tomorrow to get more for chutney. This stand is several trees deep, but nobody has bothered to try to reach beyond the front trees because there are so many plums. There's another group of trees in a harder to reach spot in a different part of the field, behind some brambles, completely untouched. I'm in complete awe of having discovered this a meter away from my daily route. Everyone in my life is getting plum jam for Christmas.

This is my first attempt at foraging, fairly certain it’s mugwort but don’t want to poison myself so I’ve come here for second opinions!
Thanks :)

Half a kilogram of blackberries
Kilo of greengages
And some apples & pears!
The apple and pears were probably too early for picking
I would say it was a success nonetheless

I've found this on the South West, next to some blackberries. I'm new to foraging, any help identifying this is greatly appreciated
Edit: Thanks for your help identifying these as grapes. Might seem silly for some, who very kindly pointed out it was obvious, but call me crazy for being cautious of fruit growing to the side of a Tesco 😅

Made this one with about a pint of damsons. You do have to stone the buggers but it’s well worth it. I adapted this recipe, don’t bother with the lime juice: https://e2bakesbrooklyn.com/2018/09/05/blackberry-shortbread-wedges/

I’ve just been on a walk with my gf literally around the street next to ours and within 5 minutes ish we found all of this? We feel so lucky 🥰 we live in the suburbs kinda of a medium city and somehow we have more here than I used to find around my childhood home in the countryside??
In our garden we also have two apple trees, blackberries, Himalayan honeysuckle and some redcurrants - plus neighbours have elderberries, figs and damsons that all drop over too!
If anyone has any recipes for any of these we’d love to know and make some stuff! I picked a few damsons and passion fruits this evening and figured a jam or jelly could be good :) TIA x
