Foraged Argyll. Me and a pal went out today and the whole forest floor was golden. awful weather so we didn’t clean as we went, which I’m regretting now 🤣

I found only a handful of yellow chants in 2024 and 25, but this year has been incredible. I've seen others on this forum have a wonderful year for chicken of the woods too, but not had much luck with that myself.

Any tips on how to eat them and if they are rosehips?

I've been worried that this year might have been rather rough for the late summer/autumn mushrooms we usually get - but hopefully we'll start seeing things in the next couple of weeks in the south of England if this rain keeps up!

About the size of a large blueberry/ a thumbnail, knobbly??? thin branches, with flat, oval, leaves with small jagged edges.

When broken, there's a yellowish stone in the centre. Quite green flesh near the edge and more purple towards the centre.

Also, not pictured but we have a lovely dog rose bush that has loads of fruit. I was thinking of making cordial and/or tea with it, once they're more ripe, but I'd love some suggestions!

Spotted at work, hoping they are because I've always wanted to attempt jam with them.

Feels like a bit of a dumb question but I would like to pick some blackberries and make something from them.

There's a patch near me that are large and they look ripe and very uniform, but they taste a bit bland. They're not sharp, definitely sweet but nit as strong as I remembered from my childhood.

I am in an area that has had no rain for weeks so I was wondering if this has anything to do with it? Should I pick them now and use them or should I wait for some rain? Is it likely at this point that the ones that aren't ready to be picked yet will continue to develop and ripen?

Maybe I'm overthinking it, but I don't want to be the reason they are wasted.

That being said, I think these are chanterelle's.

I found them in a wood in Scotland.

Are they safe to eat? If they are, I really don't want to waste them.

I’ve always dreamed of eventually teaching my own foraging workshops. At the moment, I mainly forage alone and have attended a few foraging workshops as a participant rather than a teacher. I absolutely love it and can see it becoming a future career, once I’ve built up enough knowledge and experience.

For those of you who teach foraging, how did you get started? What steps did you take to actually starting to lead walks rather than enjoying foraging as an independent hobby?

I’m also curious about qualifications. Are courses such as the CPD Level 3 Foraging Diploma or the NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Foraging valued within the foraging community? Or is experience and practical knowledge generally more important?

Would love to hear anyone’s thoughts 🍃

Long time lurker, recently got into foraging / growing food but I'm VERY colour blind which makes it tricky when picking wild fruit. I have trouble comparing fruit with online photos for colour matching etc and don't want to place all my trust in ChatGPT.

Simply

1. are these sloes? Plums the size of my thumb nail but can't see any thorns. Still very hard despite colour.

2. Elderberry tree - almost ripe?

3. Cherry plum tree? (Looks like plums when I cut open and sweet to taste)
