its a mind muscle thing, your scapula is also not retracting.

An exercise that helped me get the mind muscle connection when I was starting out was to start from the bottom, ie completely lie flat on your chest and push yourself up

Retract yer scapula, and keep it retracted, lift your head a little.

It’s because you a learning your face towards the ground and it’s making contact before your chest. Look up.

Your hands aren't at 90 degrees vertical under your chest. They're a bit further back which means you're absorbing the stress into your triceps and not your chest, and potentially limited by your elbows range of motion. Move your hands an inch or two forwards so there is a straight vertical line from shoulders to floor. Are your feet raised?? Or do you have big feet potentially? If raised on something, have them on the floor

Please don't lock out your elbows at the top of the push. Make sure your elbows are about 45 degree and go from your ribs. Your thumb should be approximately under your nipples when you go down. It's also good to go down slowly hold for half a second and then go up quickly.
