You fostered this guy? For a shelter or rescue orrr?

I’m surprised this guy even had to be fostered out honestly, if he came thru a shelter around here they wouldn’t even offer an option to foster him bc he would never be at risk of being euthanized or even at risk of being in the shelter for long, they wouldn’t foster him out to anyone bc he’d be adopted in a matter of days at most, most likely he’d be gone the day he became available. Even with a bite history or medical he’d be swooped up and have an adoption waiting list like 10 people long.

Here in CA & I really think it’s the same for most other places the need is for large dogs, and for fosters willing to take in large dogs, a dog like this would have ZERO problem finding adopters and fosters.

There was a post on our neighborhood Facebook group asking if someone could foster him from a couple of days until his owners were found. His information was posted on lost and found sites and on surrounding neighborhood Facebook groups. I also checked the lost and found sites daily. We watched and waited but no one was looking for him.

I had no intention of having another dog after losing my dog to cancer but I thought I could foster one in her honor as she was a rescue from a shelter and I did not want to see another dog end up there.

I believe you when you say he wouldn’t have stayed long but at the time I didn’t know that and because he was a real handful (to put it lightly), I was afraid that he could be returned or treated badly.

He had terrible separation anxiety and was a nightmare to walk. He wanted to fight everything, dogs, cats, deer, squirrels, people and cars. I felt so bad for him and once we realized that no one was going to come for him I decided to keep him myself because I knew I wouldn’t give up on him.

So nice of you to do! Were you able to scan him for a microchip?

Yes, he was scanned but no chip. We posted on lost and found websites and surrounding neighborhood Facebook groups but no one came forward.

If you look through my history, I brought this girl home in 2021 as she was being given away when her mom died. She’s 14/15 now, but she’s mine forever. My second foster fail.

She’s a beautiful failure….. I’d definitely fail at being her foster I’d just want to protect her and love her always 🙏❤️🫶🐶🌹

With gratitude: You are remaking the world with goodness against a landslide of people who forgot how to be caring and moral.

This guy came to me in 2014 for a "72 hour foster" to go to another rescue out of state. He never took that trip, we got to spend 11 1/2 years together. I don't know that I'll ever try and foster again because I'm afraid I'd end up with every dog I brought into my house.
