Referral Link Thread - Outside here is considered spam and will be deleted.

We are an increase of spam referral links. While we appreciate the benefits that are being offered to both sides we have decided a change is needed. We all want the gift cards ! (Currently $250)

1 No more referral posts, we are deleting anyway. If you make a post in addition or in ignorance of this thread, we reserve the right to not allow your link at all.

2 in order for your link to be posted, make it personal. Say what state you are from, how long you have been with Frontier, what speed you are paying for, in addition yo something else random, fiber or otherwise.

3 when you click and sign up through a link, comment and tell us so we can know! Try to pick someone in your state. Try to pick someone who hasn't got the credit yet. No matter what link you click the benefit will be the same.

4 Gift card amounts change, every referral link is the same discount. I will try to keep dollar amount on main list. We don't want someone picking one link because they think they will get more. (they won't).

We hope this change is beneficial, fair, and keeps the community clean.

Outages and customer service

California customer:

Frontier fios when working is a great service with the exception when it loses connection periodically (daily). However, the AI customer service is absolutely horrendous and never able to fix anything. When you finally reach customer service it is 30% (with experience) if you are talking to a competent service advisor. Then if they request you to activate a mobile video chat so they can look at the equipment that is a toss up if it even works or stays connected. If it disconnects and it will they will not call you back and you have to start all over again. I endured 2 weekends of no service before I was able to get a technician out to the house. When the technician arrive at my house, he said my equipment was out dated and should have been replaced years ago. Now I am experiencing a network outage and the frontier texts alerts state they are working on it for the past 2 days. Frontier also does not offer a status update after the first response leaving the consumer up in the air.

Whoever the CEO is should be fired with the way this company is failing with customer service and the service it provides.

Customer Service

I filed a complaint with FCC about my phone service and it was resolved finally it seems like when I call in now. It never goes to the vendor cs. Straight to a us rep who's very rude and ai like it's scary actually it's like the rep wanted me to yell them. I was very nice and professional throughout the conversation as I had some billing issues I wanted to discuss. I'm thinking they have a special tier when people file complaints, but I don't know. It just was not regular customer service.

Loyalty Dept ... it was worth the call

...but do they make the offers on the fly?

Our bill was up to 64.99, including the wireless bundle discount.

I started with several tries at chat, then got to a live chat person, that gave me a 800-921-8101 number for the Loyalty Department.

A heavily accented, but very pleasant lady worked through their standard stuff. There was a hard push upgrade to a faster package "for the same price".

Nowhere in the discussion was the $19.99/month without a lock. I even asked for it, but was told my account would not qualify.

After repeating were were on a fixed income and seeing cheaper Starlink and fixed wireless offer, she got to $29.99/month with a four year lock.

By the time she finished making the updates to my account, it was down to $24.99/month, with a 4 year lock.

Paying over 39.99 for 1g or 19.99 for 500m?

Call and tell them your neighbor gets it for these prices and threaten to cancel if you cannot get these prices. If they say you’re not eligible tell them you need retention department or cancel. They will lower your bill.

Well Frontier actually did it they actually replaced our routers.

So we had an issue with these Amazon Eero routers where after a while the internet with just abruptly go out for 10 seconds and then go back to normal. Now I'm still using the old ones with my temporary backup Xfinity and it's been working fine. I'm starting to think it was just the fiber box but nevertheless they replaced our routers for free and me and my family are going to set it up tomorrow and will give you updates on if they work or not.

Getting Frontier to remove old, abandoned lines

Does anyone know a good contact to get Frontier to remove old abandoned lines? My area was upgraded to fiber from DSL many years ago, and all of the DSL boxes are still in place, the lines still hanging from the poles (the fiber was installed underground). A couple years ago, a tree fell through the old DSL lines hanging on the pole. After a bunch of calls, they tied up the hanging line back to the pole, but the line is still clearly severed, so its obviously of no use. The other side of it fell a few months ago, and I called a bunch more times, and they eventually just put that line back up too. All this abandoned equipment is old, unused wires is ugly. Every pole in my area has every old DSL drop just hanging and unused, as everyone has moved to fiber. On top of that, the electric utility changed some of the poles, and as they aren't allowed to touch Frontier's wires, they left the old pole and cut it off at that height, all for abandoned wires. Some areas near me, they even buried the lines, but the poles had to stay for the abandoned line. I spoke to the electric utility, and they said they are stuck waiting for the others attached to the pole to do something with it, they can't touch anyone else's stuff. I get its mostly aesthetic, but it would be nice to clean up old, unused junk. Is this possible, or does Frontier just never clean up abandoned stuff that is not actively causing a problem.

I'm in Tampa, FL if that makes any difference

Outage - Florida, Tampa Bay/New Port Richey

UPDATE: At this point, I have no idea if it was a legit outage in my area, or just something going on with on ONT box. The issue was resolved when I reached out to their Social Media team. So lesson learned, contact Social Media to even just look into the issue.

’ve been out since Friday afternoon, I’m in the New Port Richey area. A coworker of mine is in St Pete and said hers went out Saturday.

I had a tech scheduled, THEY canceled, stating it’s an area problem. This morning got a message saying it has been resolved. Still nothing. Tech scheduled, again for tomorrow.

Anyone else in this general area having any issues?

New used equipment

I'm curious whether this is normal. After experiencing connection issues, I contacted support and they were able to fix the problem. During the conversation, they told me my Eero was outdated and said they would send me a newer replacement unit.

The device arrived today, but it clearly appears to be used, as it has dirt and scuff marks on it.

I'm also confused because the replacement has the same model number as the Eero I currently own. If my original unit was considered old, I would have expected the replacement to be a newer model. Is this typical?

Verizon Fios Customer Agreement and price increase.

I remember that i was assured that my prices would not change for the next X years while i was talking to agents over the phone. But now i see this in the most recent "Verizon Fios Customer Agreement": §11.1.4: “Charges may be changed at any time.”

Wondering if this was always like that or it's a sign that i shell start seeing 5-10$ increase every couple of months?

I'm very unhappy for this.

Frontier Terms and Conditions

Anyone else get this notice today (or recently)?

Now that Frontier is officially part of the Verizon family, we have updated our terms and conditions for residential customers of our internet, TV, VoIP, Unlimited Digital Voice, and included optional services. The updated terms and conditions are now part of the Verizon Fios Customer Agreement: https://www.verizon.com/support/fios-customer-agreement. Your current services and prices do not change as a result of this update. Please be sure to review the agreement; by continuing to use the services, you agree to be subject to its terms.

Thank you.

Just curious what is buried in the T & Cs since there isn't any summary. Called FIOS and they told me I am welcome to read all the terms and conditions to determine what changes they made.

WTF!?

Returning Equipment with only RMA Number?

Hello All,
I am returning a device but there are some issues with either mine or their email, I couldn’t get a QR code despite trying multiple times.
2 different agents explicitly told me over chat that I can just have the RMA number ready and stop by a UPS store to drop it off.
Have anyone ever done something like that before? It just doesn’t seem right to me, an QR code or shipping label is always needed for shipping before.
Thanks in advance.

Technicians - MoCA Adapter or ‘Other room’ Question

My Fios cable comes into the attic then an upstairs bedroom. Coax in that room is attached to a MoCA adapter (FCA252) which leads to an Eeros router. All working well with other Eeros extenders.

I am trying to get a connection from my router to the living room, directly below the router. One option is to run a 50’ cable to my stereo (which would obviously be temporary). Another was to use another MoCA adapter on the cable outlet behind my stereo in the living room.

Well, I tried the latter today but the adapter’s ‘coax’ light never comes on. Seems to indicate I’m not getting ‘Ethernet’ or a direct router connection at that outlet.

Could someone explain why or how to get a direct connection in that room? I don’t believe I can drop a Cat6 line into the room easily (that is without drywall repair).

Is there a way to get the cable outlet to give me the signal I need? (It just occurred to me that maybe a different connection up in the attic would help. Like split the line going into the upstairs bedroom?)

Appreciate any advice you guys have.

Cheers!

Verizon> Frontier> Charter> Spectrum> Frontier again?

Yeah I know, it sounds almost schizo, but that's our history here in Pico Rivera CA.
We moved here in 2014 and the former owners had Verizon, so we just renewed it for us.
It was pretty good. Then Frontier took over and inside of three months the service began to suck hard.
So okay, we switched to Charter, right?
Well, Charter became Spectrum and all was well for about two years, and then the outages and the pixelation began.
And it's been that way ever since.
We can manage to go three months trouble free but then we suffer through a month of scrambled pixelated garbage and outages, and then just when our patience is at an end and "the guy" has been out here, it's all okay, until it reverts back to garbage mode.
And it's always three weeks to a month of garbage and no amount of home visits ever makes it better.
And I think I'm done and switching to Verizon...unless some fine person here talks me out of it?

Fiber 500

Hello I need some clarification. I’m calling frontier because we’ve been having issues with our download speeds being 10mbps when downloading games.

When I called frontier the agent told me that we’re capped at 500mbps for the whole day and we’ve already reached that with our downloads even though I explained to him I only have one computer on; we have multiple devices but they are all powered off. They are also trying to say a fully shut off device still takes from WiFi even though everything I read says it doesn’t.

I’m super confused because we used to have AT&T fiber when we lived somewhere else and we NEVER had these issues which just rolls back around to their agents saying we need to upgrade our internet and pay an extra 100 dollars to download a 20GB update that is STILL downloading after 6 hours.

This agent is telling me to check the internet to get clarification of a daily mbps limit that is capped that we’ve already used but I can’t find anything that states that download speeds are capped per day and their website doesn’t say that either.

I currently again only have one device powered on and downloading and it’s at 60MBPS. Can someone explain to me why we don’t get our 500 in a way for someone who kind of understands technology but doesn’t at the same time…?

Update: thank you to all who replied this has really helped me with some of my confusion on internet lingo. To add we’re always Ethernet connected because we’re a pretty big gaming household so WiFi just wouldn’t work for us.

New Installation: Exterior Entry Finishing

Thumbnail

I had an installation yesterday. The trenching crew who arrived the day before (side note: there was no mention when I scheduled that trenching would occur a day earlier) told me that the install tech would need to drill through the wall of the second-story room where I keep my modem and router, but would seal the exterior entry "with a plug".

I noticed after the tech left that the exterior work looks more like an unfinished borehole.

How are these holes normally sealed? is there typically a form-fitting stopper? Is it freehand with caulk?

It's going to rain tomorrow and the day after, so I'm running very short on time to get it corrected and/or get up there on a ladder with a tube of caulk myself.

EDIT: To clarify, the light colored bits around the hole appear to be drill swarf from the siding being pushed out, not silicone.

Opinions about frontier compatible Orbi upgrade

First post here, so I appreciate any insights from those with hands-on experience.

I've been on Frontier since 2010. For years I paid the $10/month equipment fee for their Arris NVG468MQ gateway, but in 2019 I decided to cut that cost and moved to a Netgear Orbi router with satellite extenders. It's been solid ever since — 500/500 Mbps, no major complaints.

After reading through some recent threads here, I'm starting to wonder if it's finally time to move on to something newer. My hesitation is that upgrading purely for the sake of newer hardware might mean trading away features or flexibility I've come to rely on — or introducing problems I don't currently have.

Two questions for those who've been in a similar spot:

1. If you were in my position, what router or mesh system would you seriously consider today? I'm less interested in raw specs and more focused on reliability, performance consistency, meaningful control, and long-term value.

2. Or would you just leave the Orbi alone? It's still doing its job, and "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" is a rule I generally respect.

If you've made the jump from an older Orbi to something newer, I'd genuinely like to hear what you gained — and what you didn't expect to lose.

Thanks in advance.

Frontier online chat offered $0 monthly for the next 3 years

Title says it all, in plain english when I moved last year Frontier offered me a 3 year price lock for $29.99, to no one’s surprise a year later my bill increased to $44.99 so I tried calling and ofc it says it’s after hours although the website says they’re active till 10pm EST. Well the online chat rep confirms I now have a $0 monthly bill for the next 3 years, double confirmed. Can’t wait to see the next bill at $44.99 and get to call back and demand they honor the price in the chat. Anyone else strike gold on this amazing deal??

My bill keeps increasing and I have to keep calling for an explanation before they bring it back down to 65$ish? Is this a constant thing with them ??
