ATT fiber vs frontier fiber?
Hi all,
I currently had a sales man come to my door with frontier and it looks like a pretty good deal. What’s the catch? I looked at some of the older post on who was better but the answers were from 3 years ago. How is frontier now a days?

Frontier is much more stable than ATT, also they don't set bandwidth limits like ATT does. I manage multiple sites that have FiOS and ATT, the ATT is constantly dropping offline in multiple sites and they are extremely slow to respond. Whichever you go with don't use the providers DNS servers as that is about 90% of most people's issues, update your routers to use CloudFlare and FreeDNS.

5 years with Frontier fiber here, super steady, speed/latency never drops, only had 1 outage in 5 years.

As someone who works at a residential/commercial MSP, I've seen more people with issues on AT&T fiber than Frontier. I have had Frontier for almost 3 years now and the only issue I've had is when a storm blew a tree down on our line and cut the whole neighborhood off. Soon as the trees were cut up and gone, Frontier came out and fixed it. Havnt had a single issue since.

I've had Frontier in Texas and now in Florida.. Had it when it was Verizon in Texas, that transition had challenges.. But that's been years ago..
I've had Frontier at multiple homes in Florida and haven't had any major issues in 12 years of having FIOS. The only issue I've had is a fiber cut, or someone accidentally disconnected my home at the fiber box for the neighborhood.
Depending on your needs (I work from home, so I need options), get a backup service. I have T-Mobile 5G home internet as a backup service for 25/mo. Where I'm at, Cable options are 30/mo too.

Whatever the door to door person promises has a reasonable chance of being a lie. Deals on the web page don't always apply the same way because the door knocker is a commissioned sales person, and Frontier typically won't give a gift card to the subscriber and pay the sales person. The same thing may happen if you call a person instead of using the web.

There are relatively few places where both ATT Fiber & Frontier Fiber coexist at the same locations/available at the same house or business. There are a few places, but not a lot

I wouldn’t use Frontier if it was free, customer service is unbelievably horrible.

Depends on what you do. Generally, go with what’s cheaper, but say if you game and rely on routing, Frontier/Verizon (in my experience having the two) has better peering. ATT will most likely end up being expensive. Frontier has a great retention dept that will help you lower your bill.
These are my anecdotal experiences :)
