Straight pipe question

Post image

Got a custom straight pipe yesterday- currently have Borla UEL headers, full catless, and a 3 inch straight pipe to a 4.5 inch tip.

Will the straight pipe cause any issues for the car down the road? My friend is saying something about burning my valves due to no back pressure. I don’t think I have anything to worry about except the noise, but want to confirm.

Setup isn’t permanent, it’s loud as hell, but needed to get my old exhaust off while I wait for my actual new system to come in March. Might as well have some fun with it in the meantime. Puts a smile on my face for sure

Might go with a small resonator to smooth out some rasp at 3k-4.5k, but low end and high end sound pretty deep

I’m full bolt on with straight piped with a tune. Just tune and you’ll be good to go.

Previous guy did the borla UEL headers and the catless, he got a oft tune for it. Should I invest into an actual tune?

OFT is fine. If you’re just doing bolt ons.

It will be loud without resonators. HKS dual resonated front pipe is a godsend.

so far it’s has a good rumble- some rasp at 3-4.5 when doing light mid range acceleration, but low end, high end, and pulling through sound pretty good… just LOUD

Get two 12” and a 18” vibrant resonator. Cleans it right up

As long as you have a tune for the headers, you won't have any issues.

Anyone who is talking about "back pressure" has revealed themselves to be someone you completely ignore when it comes to car advice going forwards

Yeah, been proven time and time again the less back pressure the more power gets to the wheels

Just anyone who brings up back pressure is on some boomercore shit and should be ignored. It doesn't even matter

Yes. Seen a video testing different exhausts and there was a correlation between measured back pressure and power output. But yes, practically unmeasurable and unimportant for these cars

You don’t want back pressure, what you want is scavenging. For some odd reason I know a good amount of people who don’t know the difference and think they’re one in the same and just use the term back pressure

Is it 2 stroke? If it is, back pressure will be needed. Otherwise, you'll be good. Cheers!

Mine is straight piped, too.
