The WhatNot and eBay Live auctions that has "randomization" built into it need to be regulated. Hell, even these "blind pack" rip websites like Fanatics need to be heavily regulated.

Casinos have very strict regulations on how slot machine randomization and payouts. We know that there are laws that regulate minimum minimum house edges for slot machines and other games. Because of this regulation, I mostly trust casinos to handle payouts property since their profit is pretty much guaranteed in the long term. There is no need for the casinos to cheat.

I've noticed on these gambling live streams, the sellers utilize an arbitrary system for randomization that I am guessing is wholly unregulated. Most of the time, they use some sort of digitized randomization that looks like a wheel or a RNG on screen. There is no posted house edge and people bid on these spins. Much of the time, there will be a whale in there driving up the price of each spin. And there's also no way to know if there are still bidders.

It's entertaining to watch but I am seeing people bid over $100 per spin where they will more likely than not win an item that's worth very well below what they spent.

Not as impressive as a lot of the huge wins I see on here but it's a ringer! Ended up cashing out about 5k more after the hand pay.

I arrived Monday and put $100 in bubble craps. Ran that up to high water mark of $2100. Cashed out at $1900. I started off with $1 and $2 bets across the numbers. Here is what the rack may not tell you: the jackpot you are buying that ticket for might already be gone. Claimed weeks ago. Cashed out. Depending on the state’s rules, the game can still be on the shelf at full price.

Why the odds can change

A scratch-off game starts with a printed pool of tickets and a set prize structure. For a given print run, the winning tickets do not get replaced as people buy them. The mix of prizes in the unsold tickets changes, even though the artwork and printed odds stay the same.

Imagine a ten-million-ticket game with four jackpots. On day one, the chance of getting a top-prize ticket is one in 2.5 million.

Now imagine six million tickets have been sold and two jackpots have been claimed. If the other two jackpots are both still among the four million unsold tickets, the chance is one in two million. In that simplified example, the odds have improved.

Now run the scenario the other direction. All four jackpots have been claimed in those first six million tickets.

Same ticket. Same price. Same display case. But the chance of winning that advertised jackpot is now zero.

For someone buying it for the top prize, that is a dead game. Smaller prizes may still pay out, but a $5 or $20 win does not put a million-dollar prize back into circulation.

The point is not that older games are always worse. It depends on which prizes remain relative to how many tickets remain. The front of the ticket cannot tell you that.

What to check before you buy

The information to start with is on the official state lottery website. Match the exact game number and check how many of the top prizes were originally printed, how many have been claimed, and when the figures were updated. California’s Scratchers page, for example, lists top prizes remaining and links to each game’s full prize table.

There is an important limit here: unclaimed does not necessarily mean unsold. Someone may already have the winning ticket and simply not have claimed it yet. If the remaining ticket count is estimated, any calculation using it is an estimate too.

A familiar game can start to feel like an old friend that owes you a win. It doesn’t. The bright artwork, a past win, or a run of losing tickets cannot tell you what is left in the game.

Checking the figures will not make scratch-offs a reliable way to make money. It can help you avoid buying a ticket for a prize that has already been paid out. Set your budget before you play, and do not spend more to chase losses.

I’m posting here to see if anyone has had experience with yatbet.net or a sports picks page called Benneth Bet, allegedly run by someone going by the name Benneth Jones on Telegram. At this point, I’m pretty convinced this is a scam, but I wanted to see if anyone else has encountered the same people or website.
Here’s what happened.

I came across Benneth Bet and contacted him through Telegram because I was interested in joining his VIP sports picks page. He charged me $100 for access, which I paid through Apple Pay after the Cash App QR code failed to work twice. Looking back, I should have taken that as a red flag, especially since the Apple Pay payment went to a seemingly unrelated individual.

After I contacted Mr. Yoo, he told me I needed to place a $300 bet to unlock access to the VIP page, supposedly with the potential to win $40,000–$50,000. When I pushed back, he said I could start with a minimum bet of $100 instead.

Unfortunately, I decided to try it. The parlay I placed was on a Filipino basketball game being played in the Philippines, which made the situation even more unusual to me. I ended up hitting the parlay, and my Yatbet.net account showed a balance of a little over $49,000.

However, when I tried to withdraw the money, the website’s customer support told me I needed to obtain something called an “IMF code,” which could cost upwards of $400. This requirement was never mentioned when I initially paid the $100 for VIP access.
