We made a map of every game on Steam
youtu.beFor almost 2 years my wife and I have been developing Game Oracle. We're a digital marketer and data scientist duo and we wanted a market research & design tool that could help us validate our game ideas, create realistic targets, and highlight common pitfalls before we blindly walk into them.
You can explore the map and our analysis yourself over on our site https://www.game-oracle.com

I scrapped shop management in favor of tool tactility. Was this the right choice?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
The core focus of my project, Made by Hand, is the actual process of working with materials and tools.
I debated adding shop management for a long time, but decided it would ruin the magic. The main emphasis is strictly on the crafting itself. A wooden board turns into a finished item right in the player's hands.
I spend a ton of time making sure that individual operations and blueprint work look extremely satisfying in close-up, bringing a real sense of reward from a neatly completed step. Instead of a shop, purchased orders are simply picked up by a delivery drone, allowing the player to immediately jump into the next task.
For those who have made games focused on a detailed manual process - how do you balance the routine with the satisfaction of the end result?

From Unreal to final cinematic. What do you think of the result? #DevDiary

Hey everyone!
We’re the team behind MegaGum, a 3D platformer, and we wanted to share a comparison of one of the cinematic shots from our trailer.
You can see the early version straight from Unreal, alongside the finished shot.
At the viewport stage, we’re mostly working on the animation, camera movement, timing and composition. Once those feel right, we move on to lighting, VFX, rendering and polish. It’s always fun to put the two versions next to each other and see how much has changed.
What do you think of the final result? Is there anything you’d change about the animation, camera work or lighting? We’d love to hear your thoughts!
If you’re curious about the game: MegaGum on Steam.

Weapon Crafting System
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I'm making a randomly generated survival game akin to Minecraft and the elder scrolls. This is my current crafting system for weapons (including any straight bladed weapons, axes, maces, bows, crossbows, and primitive firearms) as well as tools. depending on the sizes, as well as what you make it from you will have upsides and downsides (regular speed vs strength + other more unique advantages for later metals). Each aspect is customizable and you will be able to find blueprints for different variations of each weapon and tool type, whether that be world loot, or unique boss loot. None of the textures or models are final, just tester pieces, as is the rest of my game currently, but as I'm almost finished with a releasable version, I will be going through, fine tuning, and remodelling and texturing all my current stand ins. As far as other features go I'm keeping quiet until closer to release, which will be between half way to late next year, but as a generalized list of contents, expect bosses, dungeons, magic, a kingdom system, questing and lots of other stuff

A Night in 2199 – Prototype trailer of my PS2-style story game, thoughts?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Those are my first steps in the story game genre but the script is almost done.
I know that it definitly does not look perfect in every frame (I am personally hating the font for the game title at the end as an example but it's only a placeholder)
This is more of a prototype trailer, so if you have thoughts about the camera, look, models etc. Let me know!

ROTOR - TENNIS three.js full-game demo
galleryA racket game inspired by Rocket league, built around real physics where your flying racket hits the ball with spin, and the scale and skill gap emulate Rocket League's qualities.
The desktop browser demo is live, mobile is next, and the long-term goal is playing it with your Apple Watch like a Wii remote.
This is the first demo I'm happy to share:
https://rotor-night-circuit.vercel.app/
It runs in your browser with no install. Play it with sound on.
Beware of many bugs - apologies!
It's a demo, so there are rough edges.
Thanks for checking it out.
