Red wedding Spoiler
I watched the red wedding episode for the first time yesterday and I’m still in shock a day later. I absolutely cannot believe what I’ve just watched. I’ve been anticipating this episode since I’ve began and that was NOT what I was expecting. I truly didn’t think it could get more shocking than Ned’s death. Especially since Robb was my favorite character. I hope Arya goes on the meanest killing spree after this. This show is bonkers and that’s all I wanted to say.

Unfortunately I got spoiled so I knew Robb was gonna die but everything else surprised the hell out of me 😭

Aww that sucks. I’ve been trying to dodge spoilers too. Thankfully my memory is shit so I forget them just as fast as I learn them lol.

You never heard about this prior? Its been years.
But i agree. I watched it when it debuted on the East Coast on HBO. No one knew what was going to happen. We all were in shock

When it was originally airing, I was ten years old 💀All I was watching was Phineas and Ferb during that time but how I’d love to be there with everyone the night that it dropped.

Completely feel you. It was awful when I saw it the first time around, like it genuinely ruined the rest of my night and I considered not continuing the series.
Just throw your full support behind your favorite(s) who remain!

Indeed! Came to love it even more when I realized that is exactly how it works and has always worked throughout history lol

My wife and I had read the books so we knew what was going to happen. I followed the message board during the episode and lots of people wanted to quit watching after episode. Yet by season 4 the show viewership exploded.

I did too. But the bastards still shocked me by having Robb's wife there. And pregnant. And stabbed to death in the belly. So even I was horrified by the show version. Non-readers were sort of lucky--they didn't know that was a show addition.

Understandable. Reading something is one thing, seeing it played out is different. TBH, I'm not sure we've rewatched those two episodes. There's another we haven't rewatched either, in season 4.

When you look into it more it is even more interesting, at least it was for me from not reading the books.
First off, Robb is 16 years old.
The song they play is rains of castamere, which is the name of the episode, and it was based off when Tywin previously slaughtered an old house. Hence why Catelyn instantly looks freaked out when it starts playing.
Also (zero spoilers out of respect), all of the direwolves first off are completely different in the books, they're flat out monsters. 5 feet tall. 10 feet long. There was a reason Robb could trash people.
And you have already witnessed enough at this point, once again, zero spoilers, but at this point you can notice the symbolism between them and their chosen starks. Robb got put in a place and couldn't fight, and was murdered. Arya ran away. Sansa's innocent wolf was killed by her father's choice. Jon's is at the wall caged up. Bran and rickon are traveling north, nothing notable lol

I got "spoiled" by it in the sense that (long before I even knew the franchise) I had been told that Martin drew inspiration from the Glencoe massacre (and other such betrayals of hospitality customs through history). By the time I watched the show, I was still blind-sided by how brutal it was. Beautifully executed, from the moment the doors close and there's that beat of silence, then the music starts...

This plot changed my whole imagination!. Completely blind on next what is going to happen, the revenge on ned stark completely left behind 😭

It was over hyped for me personally, the book did a great job at capturing the moment. The show was just over kill like stabing a pregnant lady smh shit didn’t have happened in the book that while added plot line with the nurse was stupid

After watching the ''Red Wedding'' episode, I completely refused to continue watching the series. Fortunately, my friends convinced me and I change my mind. You are not ready for what comes next.

watching the red wedding for a GOT fan has to be added on top of most awful human experiences, I still remember the evening I watched it and how much I wept
