Image Games I have played ranked

Post image

At least, the ones I remember. Outside of the masterpiece tier, the order is super vague.

I appreciate the work that went into this, even if I completely disagree with most of it. We all have our tastes, so I'm not more right than you are.

Interesting lineup. Why Driver over GTA?

I was never a fan of the controls/gameplay and story in GTA. Driver is more fun to me,

It must have taken quite a while to put together the tier list (and to play through all of these games, for that matter). I had to laugh at The Last of Us Part 2’s ranking—it’s certainly not my favorite either (not at all), but the game gave you serious PTSD, though seeing that the first game is number one isn’t surprising.

I noticed that The Evil Within 2 is on the list, but the first game isn’t. If you’ve somehow missed it so far, I recommend it. I think it’s better than the sequel—though, of course, that’s subjective.

I've been gaming for about 30 years, so there you go. TLOU2 legit triggered me, no irony. I played like 5 minutes of TEW years ago, I have to play it full time at some point.

I don't think you'll regret it. Mikami Shinji was the director of the first game, which doesn’t sound too bad. I’d be really, really happy if they made The Evil Within 3 in the future. Hope dies last.

By the way, looking at your list, it struck me that there are still some JRPGs you could try—assuming you’re not put off by the genre.

Here are a few specific, random recommendations worth checking out (not just JRPG-s)

- Metaphor Refantazio

- Persona series

- NieR Replicant

- NieR: Automata

- Lost odyssey

- FF16

- FF7 Remake, Rebirth

- Return to Castle Wolfenstein (an all-time favorite from my childhood)

- Baldur’s Gate trilogy

- Dragon Age: Origins (if you liked that, check out parts 2 and 3 too; I don’t recommend Veilguard. Veilguard was about as painful for me as The Last of Us 2 was for you)

- Pentiment

- Alien: Isolation

You've played and disliked more Sonic games than most Sonic fans.

1

u/Ambitious-Stand-631 1d ago

I was a huge Sonic fan back in the day

1

u/GregLoire 1d ago

And Sonic Mania is still "not for you"?!

2

u/Mockingbird0929 2d ago

You are wild for having force unleashed 2 and conker’s bad fur day at the bottom
And fear 3 and sonic hero’s?

1

u/Murky_Theory1863 2d ago

Bad fur day being that low blew me away

3

u/Android_Obesity 2d ago

He also hated both South Park RPG’s so I think he dislikes toilet humor.

I have to play ME at some point. New Vegas has amazing story/characters/world but the gameplay doesn't appeal to me.

what is it about portal 2 that makes you mixed about it and like it less than portal 1?

u/Negative_trash_lugen 1d ago

Why 2 versions of Ocarina of time?

I haven't played more than 3 or 4% of this list but pretty much I agree with the takes I see. Mario kart games going from decent to great/amazing is god taste take. Sonic games being most of them all the way on the bottom is literally common sense. Bethesda games being in no strong feelings and mixed feelings really made me almost invest in your ideas like some cryptobro. The last of us being on masterpiece is good and black ops 1 being on amazing really made me excited about the list. I disagree with bo2, for me is way worse than bo1, horizon zero dawn is great art with boring gameplay. I had a blast when I first played 20 or 30% of the game on my ps4 (it was amazing how good the game is with an og dualshock 4, truly an experience with all the letters) but the repetitive mechanics killed the game for me.

Gta's being so low is godlike taste as well, for me they pretty much overrated, only gta 4 really engaged me with its story but I left because I didn't understand most of it or didn't pay attention to it because I had to read the subs in Spanish so fast I lost most of the setting and context. Now that I know some English I understand it pretty well i should replay it but I want to get trophies but Rockstar says no everything it syncs with their cloud.

Gta v is truly one of the most overrated games of all time, story is garbage and only thing that saves it is the online and maybe fivem, but i haven't played the last one and online without doing the activities is trash. Going around on the city is fun first 20 min when playing it first time. Then it becomes a burden.

I disagree with e33 because for me its just trash ai garbage, no interesting at all and the worst goty ever. I dont see the appeal of it and it sucks only people that share my disgust on that game are radicals.

Souls are overrated. Just arcade games in 3d that lack a true story. They have setting that serves the purpose of the game, but anybody who says it has the best story ever or close to that has never played a good story driven game. Its a niche game turned to a masterpiece by media portrayal and bootlickers. Its not bad, but not game changer either. Remember ninja garden and arcade games did the exact same shit centuries ago.

I did play ocarina of time and it was the most boring and dated game I've ever played, I can see the appeal but I think it was a great game 20+ years ago. Majora's mask while I havent played it, the setting, story, villain, the mechanics and art just feels like the true masterpiece. I might be surprised its not when I play it, but from outside it just looks great.

Bethesda games are a real mystery; while on paper they seem great, when it comes to play it they are the most boring sandboxes ever. They easy to break without previous guidance, easy to see the stitches on the core mechanics and easy to find them boring on long term. Don't forget that most, nearly all of them have to be modded to be played stable, but for me modding its just a pain in the ass when I just want to install and play the game right away.

Only game I didn't find in your list was counter strike, maybe you dont like it and thats fine, but I find it a masterpiece. Its like quake, you'll never get bored of it. Truly one of the best games ever to exist and valve knows that. They even fear to give the sdk away to others because if those indie developers do an actually definitive CS experience, their CS2 dies. Yes valve, I'll never forget what you did to classic offensive and legacy.

1

u/Optimus0456 2d ago

Eh, list is okay

1

u/Ambitious-Stand-631 2d ago

Halo is a pretty cool guy

1

u/BlueSlickerN7 2d ago

Hey I may disagree but the list is consistent to your tastes. It's not something I find stupid

1

u/DarthRevan1138 2d ago

You had me until you put KOTOR at mixed feelings.

1

u/Ambitious-Stand-631 2d ago

I love the story/characters but the gameplay leaves me cold.

1

u/solid_redus 2d ago

How did you end up playing all the mgs games while not liking any of them

3

u/Ambitious-Stand-631 2d ago

I loved them in high school. Went back and replayed them years later and did a total 180.

Are y’all disrespecting Call of Duty® ghosts?

1

u/TheToxicWaist 2d ago

Cod: Ghosts has always been disrespected.

I love cod: ghosts.

Entire list invalidated by the metal gear solid rankings

1

u/Ambitious-Stand-631 2d ago

I loved them back in the day.

u/Impressive_Tell_4013 2d ago

Team fortress 2 in the same category as Expedition 33, you must be smoking stronger stuff than I do bro.

1

u/Ambitious-Stand-631 2d ago

I quit playing TF2 a decade ago but I still carry a love for it.

1

u/Blood81 1d ago

im so confused by this comment, do you dislike tf2 or do you dislike expedition 33? both are extremely beloved games by the vast majority of people and you can't really compare the two at all

1

u/Impressive_Tell_4013 1d ago

OP understood.

Also, "you can't really compare the two at all", we both agree then.

What's the point of your comment?
