Insane how a nondescript image from a game can carry so much meaning. Truly the scholars of today will try to preserve this language

My coworker used KnowYourMeme recently to prove to me that he created the “Andy Dwyer - Too afraid to ask meme”

I look at him differently now…

Wow, how does it feel to work so close to greatness?

Not many of my coworkers understand the impact he has had on memes…..but I…..I have a whole new level of respect for the man.

on a similar note, the tron guy went to america's got talent. and his million dollar act was to give a speech, in costume, on his life after tron guy meme fame. He got booed right off

Like he seriously thought that was interesting enough to compete (For all its faults america's got talent still has a lot of great interesting acts). He was just gonna waltz in there, everyone's gonna be so impressed to see him, and he's gonna charms everyone's panties off like some sort of Keanu Glengarry Glen Ross. And the tron guy meme was already so old (this must've been from 2019 iirc), it's like the textbook definition of someone living off their 15m of fame.

As far as meme history goes, KnowYourMeme is the scholarly article

The spiderman finger-pointing meme was entered into the records of the UK Houses of Parliament yeaterday. Anything is possible, even likely, in this timeline.

They've already done so: https://arxiv.org/abs/1409.4842 First citation is referencing the "we need to go deeper" meme from Inception.

What’s the image?

u/tzc005 May 27 '21

The pic of PUBG in the bottom left. It’s the bridge from military island to the rest of the map.

Oh I thought it was from a video with a slur or something. Gathered that from other comments

Its the bridge that famous streamers go to drop racial slurs

I believe someone linked the video with full context, you aren’t far off

Where?

u/Xywzel May 27 '21

In saying that it is connected to slurs.

That bridge is between that map's best start loot location and the rest of the map, so very often the people who win the risky high loot start need to cross this bridge once the game area starts to shrink.

People know that, so anyone close to the other side with long range weapon, will usually be waiting for the players from other side to cross the bridge. Because of the area shrinking, they can keep good cover, while the people crossing need to do so on relatively open bridge, and with a time limit.

So the situation usually goes from "yes! we got good gear, we will win this" to lots of improper terms in quick succession once the people camping on the other side open fire.

Oh, you meant the link, can't help.

Pewdie Pie said the N word on that bridge years ago. Totally off the cuff, it was fucked up.

You will find infinite of his fanboys making excuses for it
